Storm Seek Record for Most ArenaBowls
– Only one franchise has been around for all 30 years of the AFL's existence. The Tampa Bay Storm franchise is making its tenth all-time appearance in the title game, tied for the most in AFL history. With a win on Saturday, the Storm can retake the record for the most championships ever, too with six. Let's also not forget that the Soul are making their fifth ArenaBowl appearance as well, and they're hoping to become the fifth team in AFL history to win a third championship.

The Longest Wait
– Tampa Bay has been sitting on its five ArenaBowls since winning the title last in 2003. Not only would a Storm victory make them the first to hold six Foster Trophies, but their 14-year wait for a championship would be the second-longest wait in AFL history amongst multiple-time winners of the ArenaBowl, one year behind the wait the Arizona Rattlers had between their 1997 title and their 2012 title.
Most Years Between ArenaBowl Championships
Arizona Rattlers: 15 (1997-2012)
Philadelphia Soul: 8 (2008-2016)
San Jose SaberCats: 8 (2007-2015)
Tampa Bay Storm: 7 (1996-2003)
In Search of a Silver Victory
– Should the Storm win ArenaBowl XXX, they would have 25 postseason triumphs in franchise history, breaking a tie with the Orlando Predators for the second-most in AFL history. In the semifinals, the Soul moved into fifth place all-time on the playoff victory ladder, and they're now searching for their 15th postseason 'W' in franchise history at ArenaBowl XXX.

The Best of the Best
– It isn't often that the First Team and Second Team All-Arena quarterbacks face off against each other in the biggest game of the season. It happened last year with Dan Raudabaugh and Nick Davila, and it's happening again this season with Raudabaugh and Randy Hippeard. This is only going to be the fifth meeting between First-Team and Second-Team All-Arena quarterbacks(*) in ArenaBowl history. Last season, Raudabaugh became the first Second-Team All-Arena quarterback to beat a First-Team All-Arena quarterback. He'll be hoping to do it for a second consecutive season.

*In 2002, Mark Grieb was First-Team All-Arena for San Jose while Sherdrick Bonner was Second-Team All-Arena for Arizona. Grieb was injured for ArenaBowl XVI and was replaced by John Dutton.
*In 1997, Kurt Warner was First-Team All-Arena for Iowa while Sherdrick Bonner was Second-Team All-Arena for Arizona. Bonner was injured for ArenaBowl XI and was replaced by Donnie Davis.
All-Arena All Over
– The talent on the field at ArenaBowl XXX is going to be immense. There are 17 All-Arena players who are going to be on the field at ArenaBowl XXX, and 18 of the 36 spots on the All-Arena teams were taken up by members of the Storm and the Soul. The 17 All-Arena players representing Philadelphia and Tampa Bay falls one shy of what the Soul and Rattlers had in their record-setting ArenaBowl XXIX. (Both ArenaBowls featured 18 of the All-Arena slots, but Kendrick Ings is representing Tampa Bay as both the First-Team Kick Returner and a First-Team wide receiver on the All-Arena Team). ArenaBowl XXX will smash the all-time record for the most First-Team All-Arena participants on the field in the same game. The Soul and Storm accounted for 13 players and a total of 14 of the 18 First-Team All-Arena slots this year.

Raudabaugh's March on History
– Nick Davila. Sherdrick Bonner. Jay Gruden. Ben Bennett. Pat O'Hara. That's the list of men who have appeared in four ArenaBowls at the quarterback position. At ArenaBowl XXX, we'll be able to add Dan Raudabaugh's name to that list. Raudabaugh, who comes into this game with 3,794 career postseason passing yards, is already the holder of three of the best 21 games in ArenaBowl history by passing yards. He'll be hoping to add to his illustrious career with a second straight championship. Only two men have ever done it, first Gruden in ArenaBowl IX and X, then Davila in ArenaBowl XXV, XXVI and XXVII. Though Raudabaugh won't run down the "Latin Laser" in any of the major career ArenaBowl passing records, he's virtually certain to exit ArenaBowl XXX as the second-most accomplished passer statistically the AFL has ever known.

Benson Eyes All-Time Rushing Touchdown Record
– Mykel Benson has only played in the ArenaBowl once before, but he scored a pair of rushing touchdowns in ArenaBowl XXIX for Arizona. The most rushing touchdowns ever scored in a career is four, a mark held by Barry Wagner, Art Schlichter and Odie Armstrong. Considering the fact that Benson has scored at least one rushing touchdown in all seven of his career postseason games, he's a good bet to at least tie the all-time record for rushing touchdowns in ArenaBowls.
Romain's Pick Parade
– James Romain intercepted two passes in his first career ArenaBowl appearance last season for the Soul. In doing so, Romain became the tenth man to intercept two passes in an ArenaBowl. The career record for interceptions in the ArenaBowl is just four, a mark held by Hall of Famer, Barry Wagner. There are five others who have had three interceptions in the ArenaBowl in their careers, Steve Trimble, Kenny McEntyre, Chris Barber, Jeremy Kellem and Omarr Smith.
The Long and Winding Road
– You could say that the Tampa Bay coaching staff has taken the long and winding road to get to the ArenaBowl. Outside of Doug Kay, none of the members of the Storm coaching staff have ever been to the ArenaBowl in their careers. Tampa Bay head coach Ron James has been around for 20 seasons without ever coming this close to the Foster Trophy, while the team's special teams coordinator, Gary Gussman, has been in the AFL a total of 19 years as a player, coach and executive without reaching an ArenaBowl. Shane Stafford is in his tenth year in the AFL as a coach and a player, and he's going to be partaking in an ArenaBowl for the first time in his career as well. The player with the longest wait to get to a championship game for the first time? Mark Lewis, who is kicking for a 14th season this year and is making his first ever ArenaBowl showing.
55 and Over
– The Soul have scored at least 55 points in five consecutive postseason games dating back to last year. Only five teams in ArenaBowl history have scored at least 55 points in a title game and lost, the most recent of which was Arizona in ArenaBowl XXIV against Jacksonville in a 73-70 thriller that was decided on the game's final play.
Started From the Bottom Now They're Here
– The Storm won just two games last season in what was clearly one of the worst years the franchise has had to endure. Enter: Ron James. The turnaround this season has been drastic to go from 2-14 to the ArenaBowl. The Storm are the second team in AFL history to win just two games the season prior to an ArenaBowl appearance (and the 2-4 Chicago Bruisers from 1987 probably shouldn't really count). Should Tampa Bay ultimately win the big one on Saturday, it would become the fourth team in ArenaBowl history to go from a losing record to a champion. To go from 2-14 to a title is clearly unprecedented, as it would be the biggest turnaround in AFL history and one of the biggest in the history of major professional sports in North America.
The team with the biggest turnaround in NFL history to win a Super Bowl? The 1998 St. Louis Rams, who were turned from a 4-12 team into a Super Bowl champion thanks to the direction of one AFL Hall of Famer, Kurt Warner.

Back in the Keystone State
– You might think that the ArenaBowl in Philadelphia would be the first ever held in the state of Pennsylvania. But you'd be wrong! Way back in 1987, ArenaBowl I was hosted at the Pittsburgh Civic Center by the Pittsburgh Gladiators, who were beaten by the Denver Dynamite 45-16. The Wells Fargo Center will be the 19th different ArenaBowl venue (and the eighth in the last eight seasons), while Philadelphia will be the 17th city to host the AFL's title game.
Dolezel's Shot for Second Ring
– Clint Dolezel knows all about patience in the quest for championships. He won the ArenaBowl just once as a player with the Grand Rapids Rampage in 2001. Last season, he claimed his first title as a head coach with the Soul. Now, he's got a chance to join truly elite company. There have only been six men who have captured two ArenaBowls and only two have done so in back-to-back years. If the Soul win ArenaBowl XXX, Dolezel will join Tim Marcum and Kevin Guy as the only head coaches who have ever captured the ArenaBowl in consecutive seasons.

Darren Arbet: 4
Kevin Guy: 3
Danny White: 2
Mike Dailey: 2

Ari & Bonner Are Back
– Sherdrick Bonner made a ton of ArenaBowl history in his own right, playing in four championship games for the Rattlers. Now, he's making some broadcasting history as well. Bonner is going to be a part of the crew calling the game on 6abc and Twitter, giving him five straight ArenaBowl appearances in the booth. The only man with more consecutive showings is the man who is going to be alongside him in the booth at ArenaBowl XXX, Ari Wolfe, who has been part of the television broadcast team in eight consecutive ArenaBowls from ArenaBowl XXIII to ArenaBowl XXX.
