FIA WEC 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015
This 83rd edition will leave a smack of unfinished for the Sard Morand Team, after promising qualifications, well grounded strategy and the perfectly settled beginning of rac, 14th to general, 4th in LMP2, the team had to give up at the end of 11:45 hours of race. A sensor of oil pressing was to be blamed. Unfortunately nothing is predetermined in this 24 hours race.
Pierre Ragues : “I am completely devastated. We were so competitive and all at once we were struck by several technical problems. Oliver, Zoel and I even worked well in team on Morgan Evo Sard #43 to beat us for the fourth place but shortly after midnight, Zoel complained about a problem of cuts.
It was decided that I would take back the steering wheel for my next triple relay but after I left the pitlane, some smoke escaped from the engine because of a breakdown of the sensor of oil pressing, there was a beginning of fire and I thus had to stop to Arnage.There was nothing that we could have done and our race stopped there.“
Zoel Amberg : “I was worried that Le Mans is a full race and that nothing is guaranteed. Take the 4th place during my triple relay to abandon finally after 11 hours of race. I am sad and disappointed not to have been able to reach to the end. The team made a magnificent work, I look forward to driving the car in Nürburgring.“
Oliver Webb : “Le Mans is a tough race, we win together we lose together. The team was doing a great job after my first stints I got us to 5th then through the night we worked into 4th. It’s great shame to lose the race through a mechanical problem however, we will be back for more!“
Benoît Morand : “That was a fantastic 24 Heures du Mans race until 10:00 pm All the team was happy and proud of their work. There I began to see that we lost top speed. Then it was worse and worse. When we lost we had nea1min 30 beforehand on the other teams in the interventions in the box.
The sadness that I saw in the eyes of my guys, I cannot forget it, but it is also a part of the sport, and we have to accept it. We shall be even stronger in Nürburgring. I want to thank all our business and technical partners for their invaluable support.“
The team is more than motivated to meet again in Germany on August 29th for the rest of the world championship WEC.
