EMERYVILLE -- Overnight closures of the three westbound lanes from Interstate 80 and 580 to the connector to San Francisco are planned beginning Friday night and continuing through the rest of the month.

Closure hours during the work will be 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Friday and midnight Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

During the closure, San Francisco-bound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound offramp at Powell Street in Emeryville, then back to the westbound Powell Street onramp to San Francisco.

"The purpose of the construction is to rehabilitate the bridge deck, and to extend and strengthen the service life of this highly-traveled corridor," the agency said, reminding motorists that they must slow for construction zones.
