One of the major lightning rods of allegation in newly restored Sandro Lisi warrant ITOs is "Alana," a young woman who accompanied Rob Ford during his now infamous St. Partrick’s Day 2012 party.
One of the mayor’s former staffers, Isaac Ransom, told police that he suspected Alana was a sex worker. A police background check on Alana – full name Alana Kindree – notes that she does not have a criminal record.
An even easier search, on Google, points to a model named Alana Kindree, who served as Miss Toronto Tourism 2010. Kindree’s modeling profile certainly fits the description of Alana offered to police: female, white, blonde hair, thin, petite, and very attractive. (Though, notably, Ransom said "Alana" had blue eyes, where Kindree's appear to be...green? Brownish?)
According to the Miss Toronto Tourism website, “Miss Toronto Tourism is chosen for her love of Toronto and her love of people. She must have a warm personality and be friendly and outgoing. Miss Toronto Tourism promotes Events and Charities in Toronto and the GTA. Contestants are picked for their Intelligence, inner Beauty [sic] and Personality as they will be assisting many Charities during the year.”
Kindree is also currently employed as an intern at the Planet In Focus film festival. Her bio notes that she is “an artist and an activist…interested in technological advances and tools used to educate others about sustainable living.” She has a degree in Environmental Studies from York and a certificate in Community Arts Practice.
Her duties, especially as Miss Toronto Tourism, would explain how a 23 year-old woman could find herself in the mayor’s inner circle, especially around a holiday like St. Patrick’s Day. So, don’t believe everything you read in police reports legally released to the press which remain unproven in court.
UPDATE (11/14/2013, 12:23 PM): This article has been updated to note a discrepancy between Alana Kindree's eye colour as described by Isaac Ransom in the ITO and the apparent eye colour of the Alana Kindree who served as Miss Toronto Toronto 2010.
CORRECTION (11/14/2013, 12:48 PM): The headline of this piece incorrectly referred to Kindree as "Miss Tourism Toronto." The Miss Toronto Tourism pageant is unrelated to Tourism Toronto.
