David Forst begins his 12th season with the Athletics and his seventh as assistant general manager. He was appointed to his current position in February of 2004 after serving as an assistant to the general manager and coordinator of professional scouting. His primary duties include assisting Billy Beane in all player acquisitions, contract negotiations and player evaluations.
The 34-year old Forst graduated Cum Laude from Harvard University in 1998 with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. He played baseball for the Crimson for four seasons and earned third team All-America honors as a senior in 1998. He also played for the Springfield (Ill.) Capitals of the Frontier League in 1998 and 1999.
A native of Encino, Calif., Forst resides in Berkeley, Calif. with his wife, Rebe, and son, Judah.
