                             appointed by the Hungarian king, becomes progressively 
                             autonomous and an increasingly powerful diet is formed in

                             Hungarian invaders) include most of the nobility; the
                             Széklers, although ethnically related to the Magyars, are a 
                             mystery regarding their origins; the Saxons are the descendants

                             majority population had no political participation.
