Bayonetta Dated, Merchandised Out
How's a special soundtrack CD grab you?
By Kevin Gifford, 07/15/2009
Excited about Platinum Games' Bayonetta? You oughta be. The explosive action game now has an official release date -- in Japan, anyway.
Sega announced that the latest from the company behind MadWorld will hit Japanese stores on October 29. Reserve the game at certain store chains over there, and before the release you'll receive "Rodin's Selection," a special soundtrack CD packaged with a pamphlet inside a neato-looking case, set up to look like a menu from the bar that Bayonetta's partner-in-crime Rodin runs.
The exact contents of the CD are a mystery, Sega only stating that it includes "sounds hand-picked by Rodin himself." Hmm.

Yes, describing exactly what the target appeal of the game is and why it it fails is the epitomy of not knowing what I'm talking about - genius.
Hack and slash fast paced shooters should be FULL of eye candy - that's damn obvious. But it still should provide more than that - it should be a solid game pushing boundaries and limits... which from the many *MANY* hands on previews I've seen, there is none of that. They think putting guns on her shoes means innovative idea. Just because you're an obnoxious fanboy doesn't mean people who see this game for what it is (rehashed DMC with a hot chick) don't know what they're talking about.

Meh.

It looks like a cool game and I like most of the art style, but Bayonetta herself looks awful. She looks like a librarian pretending she's a dominatrix.

Who doesn't want to use those? kickass action + transforming + crazy finishers + sexy protagonist + guns on feet+ magical suit of hair that punches people and turns into dragons + picking up enemy weapons old school beat em up style + looking better than DMC 4 + killer combos that make sexy protagonist get more naked = can't wait to play. Also its Platinum Games thats making the game and Sega that is producing it....not Capcom.

Absolutely

Bayonetta is a must buy for all action fans alike and hopefully, Capcom won't make us suffer too long after the Japanese release.

I absolutely..

..cannot wait for Bayonetta! It looks like a TON of fun. I love games that can pull off that crazy over-the-top feel, and this game definitely looks like it's going to deliver. And I'm always open to a new badass action game.
Yeah, it does seem similar to Devil May Cry, but I don't really care. The man who created DMC is behind Bayonetta anyway. All I care about is how awesomely fun the game is going to be.

So, basically you don't know what the fuck you're talking about? Yeah, I think that qualifies as a check too.
Anyway, man this game looks great. This is really what the action beat'em up genre is all about. After the disappointment of DMC4, I really want to see what the driver of the genre does to drive forward. Even if there's not a lot of new or innovative ideas, I just hope this title pushes the border of fast-paced, fun combat

Awesome!!

I was really hoping for an OST. I hope we get this pre-order bonus too!
I can't wait to play Bayonetta! My #1 game of 2009!!
Too bad about the release date though. Bayonetta is sure to get over-looked because of other hot releases at the time, like Brutal Legend and Uncharted 2. Which is a shame, cause it'll be a phenomenol game!

Pretty damn stupid

Can't tell they tapped the idea well dry with this game. Hot chick - check. Stupid story - check. Just another Devil May Cry game - check. But it has to be different than every other fast paced button masher... what do we do?! How bout we put her guns... ON HER FEET! Oh! Oh! Oh! We can also show her almost naked by having her outfit be her hair! Genius!
Not really. Wake me when you make an actual game. *Yawn*

Looks good.

I'm interested in this simply because it's different. Gameplay wise it sticks to the DMC formula, but the completely nonsensical story combined with some really interesting design choices make this stand out a bit from DMC. Sega took a fall when they leaped into the next generation, and it's good to see they're working their way back up to the quality of games they had back on the Dreamcast. Now all I ask of them is reboots of Jet Set Radio and Shenmue on XBLA.

Cool

Can't wait for this one. I'm not expecting great reviews, will most likely end up in cult territory like God Hand but I'm cool with that.

Most Exciting.....

Action game franchise to be released in a long time. This game really looks incredible and should go on to be a great IP for Sega. Thank god for a new game that isn't an FPS title.

the game....

looks ok, i dont think its anything to spew over though, looks very similar to dmc(and yes i do know the same guy made this one too) Id wait till reviews come out and even then i dunno. The only way id probably buy it is if it hits greatest hits in the future, or tons of people say this is a MUST BUY, like MGS4 is. Game looks interesting though, perhaps a rental.
