SPORTS AND GAMES
The top Police officers all over India met in Delhi in 1950 and decided to conduct National level Police sports games and the first All India Police Meet was held in 1951 at Cuttack. In 1962 it was held in Kerala at Chandrasekharan Nair stadium and the same was a memorable event in the sports history of the Kerala Police. Subsequently in 1984, 1987,1997 and 2003 also it was held in Kerala. The sports history of the Kerala Police came to the notice of the public when a volleyball team was formed in 1941. The team comprised some renowned players like Abdul Karim (former IGP) Rajendran, A.P.Koya and Ramaswamy Nadar. During the period Sri. Karunakara Kurup (former Kerala Police Sports and Welfare Officer) A.P. Koya and Noyal Raj received gold medals for their achievements in sports and games.
Shri. M.K. Joseph IPS, former Director General of Police, took a lot of interest in the development of Sports and Games and special recruitment of talented sports personnel into the Police was done. The name of the late T.P. Gopinathan IPS is commendable in the development of Sports and Games in the Kerala Police. At present the Kerala Police is having good teams in Athletics, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Swimming etc. and the position of the Kerala Police in the National Sports file is remarkably high. The Kerala Police could give birth to a number of athletes of national and international reputation. Among them the names of the late Jimmi George, S. Gopinath IPS, Jose George IPS, Moosa, Noyal Raj and Elamma are notable. Further, the contribution made by T.Vasavan, Mohammed, Christy, Peethambaran Pillai, Azees, Shoukathali, Varghese, Balakrishnan, Ponnappan, Surendran, Vikraman Nair, Sreedharan Pillai, Raphel, Thomas, Pokker, N.S.Vijayan, N.B. Vijayakumar, Pareethukunju, N.K.Varghese, Vasudevan Nair and George Varghese are praiseworthy.
CHANDRASEKHARAN NAIR STADIUM
In the history of the sports and games in Kerala, the role of Chandrasekharan Nair stadium has to be mentioned with special emphasis. The stadium that is also known as 'Police Stadium' has been constructed in the name of the first Inspector General of Police of Kerala Shri. N. Chandrasekharan Nair in 1956. The stadium was built by "Shramadan' by the Police personnel. Before that the area was used by the mounted Police for their parade. After the formation of the Kerala State, the first Kerala Police Meet was conducted here in 1958. In 1985 the stadium was fully renovated by strong galleries, installing powerful floodlights etc.

VOLLEYBALL
Kerala Police has the credit of winning the All India Volleyball tournament continuously for 6 years. By winning the Federation Cup, the Kerala Police could become the best team in India. International players like Udayakumar, Cyril C Vellore and Abdul Razak gave strength and power to the team. Udayakumar and Cyril C Vellore who lead the team were also honoured by giving the Arjuna award. Among the Arjuna award winners the name of the late Jimmi George is most memorable. Smt. Elamma, who lead the women team was also honoured with Arjuna Award.

FOOTBALL
The Kerala Police team could win a number of trophies, including the All India Police Crown and the Federation Cup. Players like V. P Sathyan (left Kerala Police), U. Sharaf Ali, I.M Vijayan (left Kerala Police), C.V Pappachan, P.P Thobias, K.T Chacko, C.V Sasi, Balachandran and C.A Anson were elevated to international level. I.M.Vijayan was selected as the best Indian player while he was in the Police team.

N. I. DAVID MEMORIAL FOOT BALL TOURNAMENT
A meeting of Police officers and public of Thrissur was convened on 31-12-1996 by the then Superintendent of Police, Thrissur, and decided to start a Football tournament in memory of N. I. David IPS who died in harness in the office of the Commandant, KAP 1st Battalion, Thrissur, Sri. P.M. Subramonian, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Thrissur was nominated as General Convener of the Tournament Committee. A society was registered with the Superintendent of Police, Thrissur, as President. The Tournament is being held by the Thrissur District Police in collaboration with the Thrissur Municipal Corporation. This is a unique example of Police - Public cooperation.

BASKETBALL
The Kerala Police Basketball team had won many National Tournaments. The team won the All India Police Crown twice and also the Federation Cup. The members of the Indian team, Sri. Unwin J Antony, Sri. V.V Harilal and Sri. Sunny (Left Kerala Police) are from the Kerala Police.

ATHLETICS
During the All India Police Meets, the Kerala Police could perform very well by securing a good number of state and National Level meet records. Athletes like Subash George (Triple Jump), Roy P Joseph (100 - 200 Mtrs), P.V.Raju (400 Mtrs Hurdles), P.V.Wilson (Long Jump), C.S. Muraleedharan (400 Mtrs), M.B.Sadasivan (Long Jump), Najeem Mohammed (100 - 200 Mtrs), M.Rajan (Pole Voult), S. Anil Kumar (Triple Jump) and K.S.Biju (400 mtrs) had represented India in various International Athletic Competitions.

SWIMMING
The team was formed only recently. I.C Raju and Ganeshan has won Gold medals during the All India Police Meet, and represented India in International competitions.
BODY BUILDING
The contributions of the late T.L.Johny who won the Bharatasree and Abu Salim are notable..
