Title of the communication: Time Variability of the TeV Gamma-Ray
Emission from Markarian 421
Preliminary abstract (12 lines max.):
Markarian 421, the closest blazar, has been extensively monitored at TeV energies by the Whipple collaboration.
This object has exhibited variability at TeV gamma-ray energies on a range of timescales from hours to months.
The results of a search for hourscale variability during the 1995 and 1996 observing seasons will be
presented along with a discussion of the temporal properties of the very high energy
emission at longer timescales.
