Source:Superhero Hype!

Superhero Hype! has learned that Lionsgate has pushed back Punisher: War Zone three months - from September 12 to December 5. The only other movie on the new date so far is the Ron Howard-directed drama Frost/Nixon, but that is currently only scheduled for a limited release on Dec. 5.
Directed by Lexi Alexander, "War Zone" stars Ray Stevenson, Dominic West, Doug Hutchinson, Colin Salmon, Wayne Knight, Dash Mihok and Julie Benz.

Punisher - War Zone sounds so cool.

I can't say whether or not it will bomb. I'd have to get a look at a trailer at the very least.
Just the photos of Ray Stevenson as Frank Castle kind of remind me of the way John Romita Jr. illustrated The Punisher in the early 90s comic Punisher War-Zone. Stevenson actually seems more of THAT physical type.
When can we expect a trailer of some kind?

frost/nixion makes me wanna pee my pants... but not in a good way...

I don't think December is a good time to release a hardcore violent movie like this. It seems like it's more likely to get lost in the mix of all of the holiday movies that tend to come out this time of year. September was a great time, there's hardly any competition so it stands a chance. If they are gonna move it back they should movie it to January. Rambo seemed to do alright then.

Moving it from a September release which is usually the time reserved for garbage and Jodi Foster movies to a holiday release may be sign this movie might be a little better than anyone anticipated. Then again, it might not.

I want this film to be good. so badly. from what pics i have seen, im starting to believe it will...dont let us down lionsgate and marvel!

i do want to see frost/nixon, but punisher being the only major release for that date i can probably see both.
but let's be real, it's the punisher...it's not gonna blow out all box office records, despite the fact that it looks great thus far.

DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was really looking forwards to this. I don't think this means it sucks. It's probably because Dec is the new July at the box office and they figure what with all the X-mas movies out people might be getting tired of all that and want some blood......(in denial)

Uh-oh, this does not bode well...what's next, pushed from a December 5 release to straight-to-video?
Posted by: Jeff on April 4, 2008 at 00:54:57
I actually think it's not a bad move... unless they are pushing it back because it's going to need some serious work. Even then, it means they want to work on it to get it right. I liked the first one o.k. but I think war zone is a WAY better story line for a punisher movie. 18th! ( if you count Mike Awesomes' 3 posts that are the same. ) :)

I think they shoulda found a way to keep Thomas Jane on board. I think, if he wanted to, he shoulda directed and starred in this movie. That woulda been something. Not that this looks bad, but I'm one of those guys that has to have the same guy play the same guy for the entire series

what is your source? Please be more upfront with where you got the info. Real journalist would. If it is true at least it doesn't have to go against deniro/pacino now and if it isn't oh well. This movie may bomb it may not. But there are plenty of Punisher fans out there. Just like some of you are Batman fans we are Punisher fans that is why we care.

unfortunately, the general public doesn't give a crap about the punisher, so unless the trailer really captures a nation, the movie won't do great. and the holidays are a bad time for a movie like this to open. personally, i can't wait for it, but i want to catch it right away before its out of theaters.
