Biographies
Paul Lewis, Staff Reporter, the Guardian,
Paul Lewis is a 25-year-old staff reporter at the Guardian newspaper, shortlisted this year for Young Journalist of the Year. He lives and works in London, and specialises in migration, asylum and terrorism.
Later this year will spend three months reporting in the United States for the Washington Post, as the newspaper's Laurence Stern Fellow.
In 2006 he penetrated the radical Islamic group Tablighi Jamaat and traced the life of an unidentified illegal immigrant, killed in transit to the UK, back to his family in Vietnam.
He was the Henry Fellow at Harvard University in 2005, writing on trials of former heads of state, and achieved a First Class degree in Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge University in 2004. He also served as President of Cambridge University Students' Union.
Maryam Moshiri, Presenter, BBC News 24
'Maryam Moshiri is currently a business news presenter for BBC News 24 and a main news weekend presenter on BBC World. After a degree in Italian at University College London, Maryam completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism at the London College of Printing. During her course, she managed to get paid work as a reporter for Independent Radio News.
After the course she began working at IRN Full-time in July 2001 as a business reporter. In November 2003 she moved to the BBC to begin work as a business presenter and reporter for the BBC's Business and Economics Department.
