Alumni Play an Important Role at Open House
A big “thank you” to all the Canisius alumni who took part in the fall Open House on campus. The weekend was a great success, due in large part to those who greeted prospective students and their families, escorted them around campus and participated in various academic sessions. A group of Canisius alumni even chaperoned a bus from Albany carrying high school students and their parents!

Such involvement has a significant impact on potential students so we hope even more Canisius alumni can join us at Open House next year!
Former Griff to Play in the Pros
Mark Miyashita ’03, a former attack on the Canisius College men’s lacrosse team, is now the newest member of the Vancouver Ravens. Miyashita was the first, overall pick in the October 2003 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft, which included the league’s 10 franchises selecting from North America’s premier lacrosse talent pool.
A four-year letter winner at Canisius, Miyashita led the Golden Griffins in points per game (49), ground balls (102) and assists (26) in his senior year. He also led the MAAC Lacrosse League in points-per-game (3.50) and assists-per-game (1.86).

Lacrosse Reunion
More than 60 alumni from the Golden Griffin lacrosse teams of Canisius’ past joined Coach Randy Mearns ’92 in October for the annual lacrosse reunion. The men’s alumni played an exhibition game while the women matched up against the current roster. Afterwards, the former players and approximately 140 more alumni and friends met at D’Arcy McGee’s downtown.
