Marat Safin captured his third BNP Paribas Masters title with a 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3 over Czech qualifier Radek Stepanek. The Russian tied the record of Boris Becker for the most titles at the Paris ATP Masters Series event (the German had won in 1986, '89 and '92). He is also the the first player to take the two ATP Masters Series indoor titles in the same year, having won in Madrid and Paris

duo and brothers John and Patrick McEnroe defeated Patrick
Galbraith and Danie Visser in straight sets at the Paris indoor
event in 1992. This was the second and final title the McEnroes
won while playing with each other.
