The Douglas D.C.
2 was originally developed for Transcontinental and Western Air Inc.
(T.W.A) in 1933 for use on the transcontinental route from New York
to Los Angeles. At the time of its introduction it created an entirely
new standard in high-speed air transport, with the result that Douglas
D.C. 2 monoplanes are now to be found in regular use all over the
world. T.W.A. now operates Trans-continental routes via St. Louis,
Chicago and Kansas City, as well as routes on the West coast. The
D.C. 2, with two 710 h.p. Wright "Cyclone" engines cruises
at 191 m.p.h. |
