The director race is between Suresh Krishna and Shankar. It was rumored earlier that Vikraman may direct, but evidenly he has lost the race.  The music director could be by either A.R Rahman or Deva.

Hindi version of Kathalar Dhinam
The Hindi version of Kathalar Dhinam will be almost like the Tamil version minus Goundamani and Manivannan.  Johnny Lever will take on the part of Leonardo-hairdo Goundamani and Anupam Kher will play the part of Manivannan.  The scenes with the new replacements are being re-shot. 

Earlier, there were rumors flying around that the Hero of the movie, Kunal had died in an accident. But it turns out that it was a false news item spread by someone and Kunal  is still alive and kicking.

Priyadharsan's new project
Maayalee director Priyadharsan's new movie has something missing that you expect in every Indian movie.  What is that you may ask?  Male characters! Yes he has started shooting for his next movie, a movie with only a female cast.

Ajith converting to Christianity?
There is a rumor in Kollywood that Ajith may convert to Christianity following the news of his relevation that Ajith and Shalini fell in love.  As Shalini is a Christian by religion.  When Ajith was confronted with this question.  He said there is no chance that he would convert.  He and Shalini are planning to get married next January.  The date of the wedding was set to next year, so Shalini can honour her contracts to star in Alaipayuthe, Niram(Malayalam) and Fazil's unamed movie which will also star Vijay.  Ajith and Shalini have said that Shalini would not be continuing her acting career after they tie the knot.

Ajith is currently starring in Rajiv Menon's Kandukonden Kandukonden.  In this movie, Ajith stars as a struggling assistant director.  Ajith promises, that all of his future roles would be different and talked about characters.

Nasser's Next Venture
Nasser's second directorial venture, Mugam, is ready.  Nasser, one of the best character actors in the Tamil film industry, is also an ambitious director.  For his second movie, he has chosen a story of a man turned away by society because of his appearance.  In this movie Nasser is a brilliant man but his greatness is not appreciated solely based on  his physical appearance.  Nasser known for taking on different kind of character roles is tackling a new kind of story-line in Mugam.

Taj Mahal in post production
The shooting of Taj Mahal has been completed.  Now in post production, Bharathiraja is working hard to release the movie for Deepawali.  The only problem is the completion of the music?  In order to get the movie released for Deepawali, Bharathiraja is willing to get the background music done by someone other than A.R Rahman.  A.R Rahman has agreed, and it is expected the 10 songs of Taj Mahal may be released anytime now.

Kannodu Kaanbathellam ending changed 
The movie Kannodu Kaanbathellam, was not doing well outside the urban areas.  The reason for the failure to attract the crowds was traced down to the ending of the movie.  The original ending had Arjun and Sonali separate.  The producers seeing that the sad ending was making the movie a flop acted quickly.  They modified the ending to be a happy one whereby uniting Arjun and Sonali.  Now the movie is doing well.

Wrongly accused Kavithalaya
The big scandal in Kodambakam now is the accusation by S.A.Chandrasekar that Kavithalaya was caught in their effort to make pirate video and VCD copies of Vijay's current movie Minsara Kanna.  S.A. Chandrasekar has resorted to physical attack of a cameraman, a Kavithalaya employee.  Kavithalaya in its defence says they were merely helping a foreign documentary team doing a documentary on Vijay.  They were trying to film some shots during the shooting of Minsara Kanna. 

Earlier, it was rumored that following his highly publicized wedding,  Vijay committed suicide.  Later it turned out to be just a rumor.  It is not the first time, Vijay has been in the middle of such unfortunate rumors.  It was rumored that Vijay got into an accident and injured his spinal cord in the summer of 1998.  Later it turned out it was not the injury that kept him housebound.  It was a publicity stunt.  Many in the Tamil film industry feel that the recent suicide rumors are part of a publicity stunt to attract attention to Vijay.  Recently Vijay's successive movies have flopped. 

Bala's Sethu
Sethu is the movie of debutant director Bala's project.  Bala is one of the assistant directors who worked for Balumahendra.  Like Balumahendra, Bala wants to make his mark as a good director.  Sethu's story-line differ from the recent Tamil movies (which gives the feeling we are watching the same movie with different actors).  The story follow the footsteps of a young ganster ending up in a mental institution.  The director wants to sheds some light on the mistreatment of mentally ill patients in mental institutions.  The movie stars Vikram.  For his character, Vikram has starved himself for a month to lose weight, and he has shaved his head to transform into a realistic looking mental patient.  Everyone who have saw the stills of this movie are convinced this movie is headed for the National Awards.
