Pensacola man facing multiple charges for shooting, high-speed chase in Navarre

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. -- The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who was wanted for a shooting and high-speed chase that took place in Navarre Thursday morning.

29-year-old Grayson Zachary Eagan, of Pensacola, is facing the following charges:

  • aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
  • fleeing from law enforcement
  • firing a weapon from a vehicle
  • possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • damage property of 1,000 or more
  • trafficking over 14 grams or more of amphetamine or methamphetamine

According to the sheriff’s office, Eagan was wanted after deputies say he fired shots at another vehicle near a Publix in Navarre -- which ensured into a high-speed chase with law enforcement.

During the high-speed chase, deputies say they lost sight of Eagan’s vehicle once he reached speeds up to 180 miles per hour, but eventually located his vehicle at a home on Molina St.

According to an arrest report, the shooting ensued after a road rage incident on Highway 98 between Eagan and another vehicle.

The report says the man in the other vehicle got out of his car to yell at Eagan and once he got back into his car, Eagan followed him and eventually fired shots at his vehicle.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office says they during the chase, they also saw Eagan through backpacks out of the vehicle which were later located.

Deputies say they eventually found two backpacks with a firearm, marijuana and over 200 grams of methamphetamine.

The sheriff's office says Eagan turned him self into authorities late Thursday night and he was taken into custody.

Eagan is being held at the Santa Rosa County Jail without bond.
