Yet another comic book was announced by Disney. Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Storms of Crait will be an exclusive comic book. The Special one-shot arrives on 27th December. The plot brings us back to the Civil War as we follow Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa taking up arms on the salt-covered world of Crait as they research it for a new rebel base.
The story is written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker with art from Mike Mayhew.
Editor Jordan D. White told StarWars.com: “We’re excited for the opportunity to tell this story, tying the new sequel series in more tightly with the original trilogy era, and helping make the galaxy far away a little more fleshed out. The Bens are a great fit for Star Wars, as they showed in Join the Resistance, and Mike has done such great work on both covers and the Obi-Wan issues of the flagship Star Wars title, that we couldn’t be happier to have him back doing art for us.”
Here is a bit of the known lore about Crait, coming from Wookieepedia:
Crait was a small, desolate and uninhabited planet located in a remote star system of the same name. The planet was rich in minerals and orbited one star. A thick crust of white-colored salt covered nearly the entire planet surface, with red-colored mineral base underneath. Dominated by large salt flats, the planet also featured mountains, canyons and deeply sunken waterways—which were possibly home to aquatic creatures. The planet had a Type 1 atmosphere—it was breathable to oxygen-breathers, such as humans. The white salt-covered surface reflected the planet’s sunlight, which would be blinding at midday. The sodium-containing salt also made the planet surface slippery, hard to travel; with gusts of wind sending up flumes of white salt.
