Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
Have you made the basic setting in 55?
---
Yes, the units are identical, but the parameterization is different, 6R vs T5.

Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
If you mean the headlight adjustment I have already executed the procedure described above before making the last autoscan:
[Select]
[55 - Xenon Range]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Select Basic headlamp setting from the drop-down menu.
[Go!] to activate the Basic Setting.
The meas. block field will show Running.
Adjust the headlights using their manual adjusting screws as referenced against a suitable aiming target.
[Stop] after any needed mechanical adjustments are completed.
Select Acknowledge basic setting
[Go!] to activate the Basic Setting.
After the result of Finished Correctly appears click [Stop]
The adjustment should now be learned.
[Done, Go Back]
Don't forget to check/clear fault codes afterwards.
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]
This only solved the Missing Calibration fault without affecting the other 2 faults.
I still do not understand the reason of the No Signal/Communication fault from can gateway.
If this may help the IC warning light appears only If I keep highbeam on for more than 1 second; a single flash does not cause any warning light on IC.

Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
Are the soldering connections for the can lines done correctly and is the module connected to terminal 15?

Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
Take a clear picture of the CAN lines connection points for your AFS. (close to and far)

Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
Thanks for helping guys.
iichel I have checked both power and can connections and used a voltmeter to check if headlight range unit is powered and It looks so.
I also tryed to plug again the other range unit but can gateway error remains.
Here are some details pictures. Hope those can help.
PS flying wiring are only because I have just re-made the connections (prior made with a solder) using butt connectors.
This second joint is made because of wiring was too short.

Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
Wrong!
The AFS unit must be connected to the powertrain CAN lines (old CAN lines for instrument cluster), not to the new CAN lines of the instrument cluster with BCM Max (54,57).

thanks for the pictures...

It is convenient to twist the wires of the CAN lines to avoid possible electromagnetic interference.

Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
My deepest gratitude guys! No more errors in autoscan
Please apologize for my noobish question but at the beginning I connected the range unit to the wrong can according to the following wiring diagram.
Is that wiring diagram wrong or I am not able to get the point? Sorry for the question but I'd like to understand my error to avoid it in future retrofit.
Now that the autoscan problems are gone, one error left: the light bulb on IC when highbeam are activated (more than 1 second).
Do you think is that a coding problem? Because of I have read federicodrdpro had similar problem with his led headlight retrofit and problem was solved by a coding (I know conditions are not comparable but as far I can see both headlights works correctly).
Thanks so much!

Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
When installing the new BCM Max 7E0, the communications for the IC must be improved to better manage any new function, this is achieved by creating new CAN lines (54 BCM / GW <---> 28 IC , 57<--->29).Franciswat wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 12:34 pm

These new CAN lines no longer belong to the power train communication NETWORK.
AFS unit must be connected to the powertrain communication NETWORK, that is, what you have done to make it work properly.
It does not matter that the old wires powertrain CAN lines reach specifically to the IC, the important thing is that they are powertrain CAN lines.
Yes.

Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
LC tested, no more IC warning light ! Everything works like a charm now!
Thank you so much ciclo for the explanations and the informations provided.
I could not successfully complete this retrofit without your help! I am very grateful to you!
A big thanks to iichel too!
Report of OEM xenon headlight retrofit with BCM 7E0 on Polo 6R 1.6 Bifuel
Please apologize if following report misses a lot of details.
It just want to give general view about the work performed.
First a look at the wiring diagram.
Please note headlight range unit and AFS unit wirings are missing in this diagram.
Simple comparison between OEM halogen headlight and OEM xenon headlight.
Xenon lamps I choose to mount on my Polo.
All the parts you need for the retrofit except for the wirings wich I made all by myself.
Anyway you can buy T10 to T14 and other needed wirings from online stores.
Wiring from left headlight to the BCM.
Bracket for the AFS mounting.
AFS mounted and waiting for the wiring.
T4 connector for the AFS unit. Only 3 pins are used.
AFS retrofit completed. The pvc pipe is not an OEM part.
I decided to use it to protect cables (0.35 mm2) from dirt, water and debris.
Wiring from the AFS unit to the BCM. View under the rear seat.
Wiring from right headlight to the BCM.
Headlight range unit T26 connector.
AFS unit is located behind the gloves box.
All the cables coming from left and right headlight which must be connected to the BCM.
Fog lamp wiring must be changed according to the wiring diagram above.
As ciclo suggested I added a new 15A fuse in the fusebox.
The new 15A fuse in SB54 (free slot in my fusebox).
Also the dimmer have to be changed because xenon headlight are controlled by AFS unit (not manually).
The dimmer mounted next to light switch.
Final result

Thank you Fernando, yes I am really proud of my jobs especially because I'm just a hobbyist without professional knowledge.
Anyway I feel very very lucky because of there are people like you who are so kind and willing to help me.
More projects coming soon!

Good job Francis. Sometimes the smallest mistakes have the biggest influences. Glad you fixed it and your Polo looks amazing.

Re: Upgrading my Polo 6R bifuel
Thank you Michael! I try to be precise with my retrofits but I still miss a lot of knowledge!
Your works guys are impressive! I am far behind your experience..
Mates can you please suggest me some led lamp for interiors?
I was looking on aliexpress but I'm bit skeptical about life span and effectiveness of those cheap lamps..
On the other side I saw some local shops which sell "hi-quality" lamps (like 7 € each).. is so high price justified in your opinion?
Thanks in advance!
