India vs China Highlights, Asian Champions Trophy 2024 Final: Jugraj Singh stars as India beat China 1-0 to clinch record fifth title

India defeated China 1-0 to win their fifth Asian Champions Trophy title in Hulunbuir on Tuesday.

Jugraj Singh scored the decisive goal in the 51st minute, breaking the deadlock in a tightly contested match.

Throughout the match, the Chinese team showcased strong defense, making it difficult for India to score in the first three quarters.

India secured their fifth Asian Champions Trophy hockey title by defeating China 1-0 on Tuesday in Hulunbuir.

Defending champions India faced a tough contest as they struggled to break through China's strong defense for the first three quarters.

The sole goal of the match came in the 51st minute when defender Jugraj Singh scored a field goal.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan claimed third place by defeating Korea 5-2 in the six-team competition.

India's victory adds to their tally of Asian Champions Trophy titles, highlighting their strong performance in the tournament.

That's it!!! India win the 2024 Asian Champions Trophy title. They beat hosts China 1-0 in the final to clinch a record-extending fifth title.

India previously won the ACT title in 2011, 2016, 2018 (joint winners with Pakistan) and 2021.

And now, they have got their hands on the fifth title.

Jugraj Singh was the lone goal-scorer of the match as his field goal came in the last quarter of the finale.

What a performance this has been from the Indians. Meanwhile, China, playing their first ACT final too put up a great show in front of their home crowd.

57' - A loopy shot from the Chinese attacker from inside the Indian circle but the ball goes over Kishan Pathan and the net.

56' - Desperately looking for the equaliser, the Chinese have removed their goalkeeper and brought in an extra field player. A real chance for India now to get another goal!!

54' - The Chinese look a bit rattled by the surprise goal from Jugraj in the final quarter. The clock is ticking and the hosts are now desperately looking for an equaliser. However, the Indians are defending superbly, maintaining the lead.

51' - Jugraj Singh strikes and breaks the deadlock!

47' - Abhishek gets a superb pass from the mid-field and he collects it inside the Chinese circle. He gets blocked by the defender while attempting a shot at the net. Asks for a PC but the request denied by the umpire!

A couple of quick moves from the Indians in the final minute of the third quarter but they miss out of scoring on both the occasions.

43' - A great run from Araijeet Hundal from the right flank but he does bot have anyone to push the ball to. He fires in a shot at the net but misses.

42' - The Chinese defenders have been really good today as they block yet another India attack from the right.

India's Ali Amir has now got a Green Card!

39' - A solid drag-flick from the Chinese after injection and Amit blocks it. However, the third umpire rules there was Amit's foot involved and China get another PC.

An alert India goalkeeper Krishan Pathan successfully defends the second China penalty corner.

38' - The Chinese try to enter the circle from the left corner but Jarmanpreet Singh blocks the attack, successfully snatching the ball away.

37' - Poor injection and even poorer drag-flick from the Chinese as they miss out on a chance to score via a PC.

35' - Harmanpreet Singh fires in the ball at the Chinese net from the edge of the circle. Gurjot Singh tries to deflect it into the net but misses.

33' - Jugraj Singh is down on the ground after a wild back-hit from the Chinese hits him on the shin inside the circle. He gets up after a couple of deep breadths. Looks fine as the game resumes.

32' - A couple of quick moves from the Chinese, getting the ball inside the Indian circle but the defenders tackle and clear the ball without much of a fuss.

The Chinese get the third quarter underway with a back-pass in their half. India to attack from left to right in the second half. Critical minutes coming up in the start of the third quarter.

30' - So, at the end of the first half, its India 0-0 China.

Terrific game this has been in the first 30 minutes.

India holding possession but the Chinese have done some excellent work in the defence-line.

There were a couple of close calls for India as well but the defenders were successful in denying the hosts a goal.

29' - The Chinese attacker was hurling towards the Indian net and Jugraj was the sole man behind him inside the circle. He dives in from the side and clears the ball in a terrific save.

27' - India got a penalty stroke after Manpreet Singh was rudely tackled by the keeper. The Chinese sent the on-field decision upstairs and the third umpire rules in favour of the hosts. India declined a penalty stroke.

27' - Sukhjeet got the ball from Nilakanta and he managed to hit the ball on the Chinese defender's leg inside the circle to earn India a PC.

Skipper Harmanpreet initially missed the drag-flick but then collected the ball and fired it at the Chinese net. The ball hits the post and deflects away.

25' - Beautiful stick work from Abhishek inside the Chinese circle as he dribbles the ball near to the net. But yet again, the China defenders manage to clear the ball away.

22' - Jarmanpreet Singh tries to make a couple of moves from the right but gets blocked on both the occasions. The Chinese defence has been really solid so far. India making aggressive moves in the Chinese half but they have been without any success so far.

19' - The Chinese forward dodged three defenders and managed to enter the Indian circle. However, he was eventually blocked The Chinese asked for a foul but the umpire rules it India's way.

16' - Quick move from India at the start of the second quarter as the forwards make a move from the left flank. The Chinese defenders block India's move comfortably.

14' - China get their first Penalty Corner in the dying moments of the first quarter but they fail to convert it as keeper Krishna Pathak makes a great save, diving to his left. The Chinese forward fails to collect the rebound off Pathak. Second later the hooter goes up.

14' - Another hit on the target by Abhishek but once again China goalkeeper blocks the shot.

13' - Abhishek fires in the ball at the Chinese net from inside the circle and Sukhjeet was waiting for the rebound but Chinese goal-keeper does really well to deny India a goal.

10' - India skipper Harmanpreet Singh fails to convert two consecutive PCs.

The First one was blocked by the Chinese defence, resulting in the second one after the ball hit the foot. On the second attempt, Harmanpreet fired in the ball wide to the left of the goal post.

9' - After Jarmanpreet got inside the Chinese circle, he got intercepted by the defenders. The Chinese then came up with a superb counter-attack, hurling towards the Indian post. But India defenders blocked China's move effectively, pushing the ball out.

8' - The Chinese take a quick long corner and the shot was made at the goal post from inside the circle. The Chinese forward fails to deflect it into the net. The Chinese appeal for a PC but the umpire is unmoved.

4' - The Chinese try to make a couple of moves in the Indian half but the defenders are quite alert. Block the Chinese twice successfully.

1' - Aggressive India get things underway straightaway with quick movement and passes along the turf. The forwards did have a circle penetration but the Chinese defenders intercepted the pass. The Chinses then tried to counter but were checked by the Indian defenders.

India get the ball rolling in the first quarter with a back-pass. Team India to attack from right to left in the first two quarters. Here we go!

Players from both the teams now make way to the centre of the pitch along with the match officials. High-fives all around! Time for the national anthems. Hosts China's anthem to go first followed by India's 'Jana Gana Mana'. Toss to follow after the anthems. It's a packed house!

Both India and China players can be seen warming up ahead of the start. A thrilling contest awaits!

Earlier in the day, India captain Harmanpreet Singh was nominated for the player of the year award by the FIH.

Legendary goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will be in contention for goalkeeper of the year honour.

A rampaging Pakistan turned the heat on South Korea in the last two quarters of the match to claim the third spot with an 5-2 win.

The third quarter of the match is being played at a frentic pace, with Pakistan now leading 3-2.

India have won the ACT title a record four times -- in 2011, 2016, 2018 (joint winners with Pakistan) and 2021. China, meanwhile, will be playing their first ACT final.
