It's reported that while the movie was playing in a theatre near Cumbum, a herd of wild elephants came to the village. While the villagers became panic, they were awestruck when the elephants went and stood near the theatre with their trunks held high, as the song played. They stood still till the song was over, and returned to the forest. This apparently continued until the movie was removed from the theatre. Ilaiyaraaja had shared this experience in some of his speeches to highlight that music can attract not only human beings but all living beings.
The song sung by P Jayachandran is considered an evergreen song where one cannot distinguish or classify the song into either Carnatic or folk genre. Jayachandran in his biography had mentioned that the three songs in the movie, Kathirundhu, Inraiku Yen Indha .. and Rasaathi Unna... all sung by him, were recorded in a single day.
