Russian banks’ profit to lose 10-15% in 2025 — VTB chief executive

There will still be high profits and high return on investment, Andrey Kostin said

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. The Russian banking sector’s profits may lose 10-15% in 2025, Chief Executive Officer of VTB Andrey Kostin said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel.

"Indeed, we expect [a decrease], not a dramatic though, by around 10-15%. There will still be high profits and high return on investment," he said when asked about the decline in profits in Russia’s banking sector next year.

In September, the Bank of Russia upgraded its outlook on profits of the country’s banking sector for 2024 from 3.1-3.6 trillion rubles to 3.3-3.8 trillion rubles. Meanwhile the regulator maintained its outlook on the sector’s profit for 2025 at 2.7-3.2 trillion rubles.
