Four sailors rescued

Four sailors who were in the Sri Lankan Navy vessel 'Valampuri' which was sunk by the Sea Tigers on Sunday night were picked up in the high seas off Nagapattanam on the south eastern coast of Tamil Nadu said reports from Chennai today.
Fisherman from Nagapattanam had rescued the sailors in the sea and handed them over to the Indian Coast Guard. The sailors had survived by holding on to planks to stay afloat sources said. They were brought to Chennai today. The sailors were identified as Able Seaman, W.L.A Pushpakumara, Seaman A.W. Wijayabandara, Recruit Seaman C.D.S Lakmal and Recruit Seaman S.M Samarakon. They will soon be flown to Colombo once the formalities are over said SLN sources in Colombo.
