Introduction Speech Outline-Kristina Gary Introduction: I. Hasn’t everyone seen an episode of the Brady Bunch? With the perfect blended familysame number of girls and boys getting along beautifully? Then, later in the show came Cousin Oliver. He was slightly out of place- but still loved by the family. Well, in my family, I am Cousin Oliver. My parents blended a family of two boys and two girls, and later decided that to make their family complete, I should join the cast. II. During this speech, I will provide you with clear examples of how my life is completely family oriented. My background, my life choices, and my personality are all factors that are completely influenced by my passion for my family. I. My background is the first example of how my life is focused on my family. Body: A. B. C. D. II. I am from a large blended family. 1. My mom has two children-Kim and Randy 2. My dad has two children- Michael and Michelle. 3. Both of my sisters are married and all together I have five nieces and nephews. From my background, it will be clear that my family is a strong and connected group that has influenced my life choices. A. B. C. III. My name is Kristina Austin Gary. 1. My middle name is from my mom’s maiden name and represents her family while 2. My last name encompasses my dad’s. I am currently 20 years old. 1. I was born on November 5 2. I was born and raised all within the same 2 miles of where my family and I currently live. I am not married but I have a seriously committed relationship with someone who also shares my passion of family life. I am a Christian. 1. Since I was a baby I was raised in church. 2. My parents and siblings have provided examples for me to live by since childhood. I have a strong desire for family relations and children. 1. I am currently a student at IUPUI majoring in Psychology. 2. I hope to be a marriage and family therapist with the knowledge to help other families in need. I desire a family of my own. 1. Because of my positive outlook on married and family life, I have a strong desire to be a wife and a mother. 2. I know that once I am able to, I want to be a stay at home mom. This is one of my goals in life. Finally, I believe that my personality is a product of my family- both positively and negatively. First, I believe some of my positive attributes come from my family’s influence. 1. I have a strong sense of humor- mostly inherited from dad. 2. I am a passionate and committed person- influenced from my sister Kim, who is an artist and teacher. 3. I am confident- I believe I received this from my mom who is never ashamed to do the right thing. B. I also have negative characteristics that I have learned from my family. 1. I am sometimes too passive- in a large family it is easy to go with the flow, so now sometimes I see myself not being as assertive in situations as I should be. 2. I can be sarcastic- inherited mainly from the men in my life. 3. I am a bit of a perfectionist- this comes from the women in my life who, like me, prefer everything “just so”. A. Conclusion: I. In conclusion, a speech about my life would be incomplete without discussion of my family life. II. Now that I have shared with you the components of my family and the strong influence they have provided me, I hope you can see how I would not be the same without them. My background, my life choices, and my personality all illustrate my devotion and passion I have for my family.
