Being a long-time fan of Tomb Raider series, I enjoyed the rebooted adventure of a young and inexperienced Lara Croft.

Combat is visceral and tactile, and although not really challenging even on hardest difficulty, it remained fun all the way through. There are several enemy types which require a different approach and shooting never got boring the entire playthrough.

Exploring kept me engaged due to collectibles which flesh out the story a bit. Locations themselves are, while gorgeous considering the game's age, are somewhat uninspiring. Typical mountain vistas, a ghetto slum, WWII bunkers - won't lose my sleep over it.

The story left me utterly disappointed. Uninspired writing, thin characters, boring antagonist. Felt like devs didn’t have much time or resources to properly establish plot points and the story's pacing felt rushed ultimately. Though I suspect R. Pratchett's writing is more to blame for that here. While not terrible by any means, it's definitely a forgettable story. Although I didn't mind the absence of proper tomb raiding here like some players did; it's an origin story after all. Long-time fans will find the puzzles here disappointing. I can't even call them puzzles, to be honest. Hopefully, Rise of the Tomb Raider will remedy that.

The game is pretty short and doesn't overstay its welcome, even considering all the collectibles - and that's a good thing. Overall, it's a very cinematic and polished experience. If you haven't played the rebooted trilogy, then I highly recommend not skipping the first game and buying the full collection on sale, it's very cheap nowadays.

P.S. Multiplayer is pretty much dead and that will make the process of getting achievements for it very tedious, keep that in mind. There's also no multiplayer mode available on macOS version of the game.
