After more than 1k hours played, I can easily say that this game was engaging if not addicting.

You've got so many things to do with so many countries, (including events and intrigues) not to mention all the achievements you can get and the challenges you must go through to earn them, that time pass by, and fast.

With that said, I can recommend the game if you are a fan of grand strategy games and enjoy building your empire by scratch with your own rules, but unfortunately I need to say this:

- Like all paradox games and with the release of Imperator:Rome, there are countless threads regarding the DLC policy that paradox embraces, and that is sadly true, you have to spend a min. of 2/3 years waiting until a game like this is properly working and engaging without falling in the lackluster limbo that these games fall into (Crusader king 2, Victoria 2, Stellaris, Hearts of Iron 4).

Edit: Imperator:Rome died and it was all because of the inability of paradox to engage in a more easy approach on the game, instead, they implemented so much ♥♥♥♥ in the game that almost everyone quit after a month and reduced the dev team to a 1 person do-it-all... lol

Edit 2: You can see all the games I mentioned getting new releases and engines (like Vicky 3 and CK3, and the first part of the text remain as it is, without relying on the modding community these games goners.)

- The prices of these DLC's are like an indie game and don't offer as much, decreasing the hype for every other DLC's that they put out or even enraging the community on how much something sucks and needed to be a free component straight away or that some features are breaking the flow of the game. Adding all of this you might end up paying like 2 triple AAA games with just the DLC's you're presented with (if not more like in this case).
- Choose carefully on what DLC you're willing to take, you don't want to end like me having almost all the DLC's and have some of them disabled for how badly that DLC was implemented and became useless (yes I'm watching you cossacks and mare nostrum)
.

Edit: Dont spend a dime on DLC's, only buy the sub and play with all the DLC's already unlocked, if by chance you dont like the game atleast you wont have wasted all that money on the real cost of the DLC's (even though these greedy devs increased the cost of the sub).

All in all I liked the game, but I hope that the guys at Paradox wake up one day and decide to plan a new kind of DLC policy, because otherwise I'm not seeing a bright future for their upcoming releases.
Be sad, this is not only the publisher fault, but also the devs fault.

I hope this review was useful to whoever read this.
