Zen Brush 2 is a drawing app focused on the strong yet beautiful feel of the East Asian ink brush. With a new drawing engine that brings to life a feeling of silky fluent painting and the delicacy of an ink brush, providing a simple and intuitive user interface imbued with the Zen spirit, this app is designed to be optimal for performing Zen art.
The app includes a new drawing engine based on a 3D model of an East Asian ink brush. Strokes change according to the movement of your finger, providing a sensation just like a real ink brush. An even more varied and deep expressiveness is now possible.
You can now select the degree of ink dispersion. Enjoy the complex, three-dimensional expressiveness of ink-wash painting where the ink gradually soaks into washi (Japanese paper).
A brush with little water that easily produces kasure (scratchiness). Great for producing a rough appearance.
A brush with a standard amount of water that has moderate nijimi (blurring). Great for a smooth appearance with little kasure (scratchiness).
A brush with a lot of water that easily produces nijimi (blurring). Great for producing a pale, fleeting appearance.
By adjusting the thickness of the ink, you can reproduce shades ranging from dark, thick ink to light, diluted ink. Try creating subtle artwork by combining shadowy depictions and light coating.
You can now use red ink in addition to the main black ink. It can be used in many ways such as for signature seals, corrections or to create breaks in color. Use it to best effect.
Enhance your work’s expressiveness by choosing from a collection of 92 rich background style templates.
By using the Apple Pencil, not only can you accurately control the drawing position and
change the thickness of your lines by adjusting the pressure of your strokes, the
inclination and orientation of your brush is also taken into account to create an even more
realistic experience. Additionally, by using Split View, you can draw while simultaneously
looking at a reference image of your choice.
You can easily draw text and illustrations from within iMessage Apps available starting with iOS 10. You can send large, impressive images, but you can also stick your images as stickers on photos and messages. The drawings and stickers you create are saved in the Zen Brush 2 iMessage App, so you can easily reuse them. We also included a collection of new background templates, such as speech balloons, specifically for iMessage. (The large images shown on the right were created using the app and are not included within the app).
Add fine details by zooming in and out using gestures (pinch out/pinch in). Use 2-finger tap to quickly toggle between normal and zoomed in display (zoom magnification of 100%).
Use the guide lines as reference for laying out your painting. Use them for horizontal, vertical and central positioning, or as a reference for character size, to help you create well balanced artwork.
You can express thickness from stroke strength even without a pressure sensitive stylus thanks to a feature that simulates brush pressure based on the touch area on the screen. Furthermore, with a device supporting 3D Touch (iPhone 6s / 7 / 8 / X series), the actual pressure of your strokes is reflected realistically even when you use your finger or a basic stylus.
Works with pressure sensitive stylus pens. Supports button shortcut settings, palm rejection, etc. Furthermore, you can adjust the brush sensitivity level (5 levels) in Zen Brush 2 to create your own preferred drawing feel.
