Abstract

The invention relates to a switching element (30) wherein a first strip conductor (20), which is formed on a first substrate layer (12a) and is connected to an electrical load (16), overlaps, in the region of a spacer element (26), a second strip conductor (24) which is formed on a second substrate layer (12b) and is connected to an electrical voltage source (18a, 18b). According to the invention, switchable flexible displays can be produced at low cost and with a high degree of precision. In particular, the claimed switching element (30) does not require subsequent electrical bonding but can be produced in one pass. The invention also relates to methods for producing such a switching element and corresponding circuit configurations.
