Design No. 3,560, dated June 29, 1869.
DESIGN FOR A MEDALLION.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part cf the same.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM MILLER, of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, State of' Pennsylvania, have originated a new Pictorial Design; and I do hereby declare that the accompanying drawing, and following explanation thereof, form a full, cle-ur, and exact description of the saiddesign.
In the drawing, the central portion of the ligure consists of a circular picture or medallion, in which are represented the heads, in profile, of Washington, Lincoln, and Grant.
Surrounding this picture, is a circular border, a, composed of circular lines and stars, arranged asclearly shown in the drawing; and in the space between the said border and the central picture, and immediately over tbc latter, are the words, TriunwifriAmericani,
and, beneath the picture, the words, Pater, 1787; Salvator, 1861; Custos, 1869.
In the corner-spaces, left between the circular border c and the square outer border of the design, are allegorcal figures, the two upper of which hold a wreath over the heads represented in the central picture.
The above design may be produced, in relief', in plaster, bronze, ol as a print or photograph, as shown in the drawing, or the ornamental border may serve as a mat, with which to surround the central medallion or picture.
Without, therefore, confining myself to any specific material, or Inet-bod of producing my design,
I claim a picture, in which the three faces are combined, substantially in the manner described.
I also claim the combination ofthe above with the border herein described.
