UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES MACPIIAIL, OF VEST IULLMAN, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO THE PLANO MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR WRENCHES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,229, dated February 1, 1898.
Application filed September 24, 1397. Serial No. 652,937- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that 1, JAMES IWIACPHAIL, a citizen of the United States, residing at West Pullman, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a IIandle for a french, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompan ying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation of a handle for a wrench constructed in accordance with my novel design. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the said handle.
My invention relates to a new and useful design for a handle for a wrench of the class commonly known as monkey-wrenches; and it consists of the features and construction described.
The main body of the handle A has the shape substantially as seen, and consists of the generally-flattened portion suitable to be grasped by the hand, and has therein the substantially T-shaped aperture B. Above this main body portion is the rectangular socket portion 0, which is thicker than the handle proper, and terminates at its upper end on one side with the jaw D. This rectangular socket portion 0 terminates just over the head portion of the T-shaped aperture B. In addition to these essential features of my design I may form the lower end of the handie A with the recess L.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a handle for a wrench, substantially as shown and described.
JAMES MACPI'IAIL.
