ROLL HOLDER.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 10.1907,
WITNESSES: [NVE/VZOR Af/orngy 6" HENRY THUMANN, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
ROLL-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 10, 1907.
Applicationfiled June 10. 1907- Serial No. 378.194:-
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY THUMANN, citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Roll-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a roll holder, and has for its object to provide an improved and simple device capable of cheap construction and to which the roll may be readily and quickly applied, and which will effectively hold the same when applied.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the retainer lifted to permit the roll to be applied or removed.
The device has a supporting arm 6 fastened at one end 7 to a wall or the like and having at the other end a head 8 in or to which is fixed a round rod 9 extending in both directions therefrom. The outer end, 10, of the rod, conveniently forms a hook for supporting clothing or other articles.
The roll indicated at 11 is mounted upon the rod 9 by being slipped on the end thereof. To retain said roll in position a rod 12 is provided, bent to substantially rectangular form and mounted loosely in an opening at 13 through the inner end of the arm 6, and the outwardly or forwardly extending part of the rod 12 has a rosette 14 or the like provided with a vertical groove 15 which is open at the bottom and closed at the upper end. A head 16 prevents the rod 12 from dropping parts are so connected together that they cannot be separated or lost, and only one casting or supporting arm is needed, the rods referred to being readily produced from heavy wire. The rosette may also be omitted if desired, and a simple hook substituted at the end of the rod 12.
I claim:
1. A roll holder comprising a supporting arm, a rod projecting therefrom, and an angular retaining arm having a rear horizontally extending part pivoted on the supporting arm and a forwardly extending part at one end arranged to swing up and down to andfrom the free end of said rod.
2. A roll holder comprising a supporting arm having a rod projecting laterally therefrom, and a swinging retaining arm having a groove at the end. which the end of the rod enters, and arranged to swing to and from the free end of said rod.
In testimony whereof I ailix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY THUMANN. l/Vitnesses NELLIE FELTSKOG, H. G. BATOHELOR.
