Description

(Hommel.) n
L. G. WADE. BAG HOLDER.-
No. 494,908. Patente-d Api. 4, 1893.
wiwi/Leona@ UNITED STATES PATENT LINLEY G. WADE, OF HOLLY, MICHIGAN.
BAG-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 494,908, dated April 4, 1893.
Application filed September 1,1892. Serial No. 444,767. (No model.)
To LEZ whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, LINLEY G. IVADE, of Holly, county of Oakland, and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
The object of my invention is to produce a suitable, convenient, and economical device for holding the end ot' a bag open, and suspending it while it is being filled.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a front elevation of my holder. Fig. 2 is a side view thereof. Fig. 3 is a top plan view; and Fig. i is a view of the same as in use, showing the bag in position.
Referring to the iigures on the drawings, l indicates a frame, which preferably consists of a piece of inet-al bent or bowed near its op poste ends at a, as illustrated, and provided with suitable supporting devices, as for example hooks 2 fastened to the side of l the frame. Suitable contrivances for holding the bagaround theside should be providechbut the weight of the bag resting upon the door may be supported without great difficulty at this place, and therefore I have found that by einploying large headed rivets 3 for fastening the hooks to the frame I may provide ample means for the purpose.
'ing pins 8.
4 indicates a bracket fastened to the end cf the frame and extending downwardly to afford a pivotal support 5 for the pivoted catch 6 that isprovided with a handle 7 and limit- The bracket is preferably bifurcated to afford guide-bearings in its opposite sides for the catch and handle.
In use the frame is tted to its appropriate size of bag, and the catches having been coinpressed against the sides thereof it is firmly fixed in position. In this position the mouth of the bag is held wide open with its front edge somewhat depending.
What I claim is- In a. bag holder, the combination with a bowed frame, having fastening devices secured within said bowed portions of the bifurcated brackets, secured to the extreme ends of the frame, the catches with operating handles pivoted in the bifnrcated portions of the brackets, and the limiting pins, for said operating handles, substantially as and for the purposes specified.
In testimony ot' all which I have hereunto subscribed my name.
