This invention relates ..tofootwear in theV4 form` of --a slipper or sandal -wherethe entire structure of the footwear, aside from fastener means employed, is composed of freely exing material so as to facilitate compact folding, rolling or otherwise packaging of the footwear for shipment or storage. Still more particularly, the invention deals with. footwear of the type and kind having inner and outer facings contrasting as to color, and/or material, thus providing reversible use of the footwear, and still further wherein all seams of the several parts have finished edges.

The novel features of the invention will be best understood from the following description when taken together with the accompanying drawing, in which certain embodiments of the invention are disclosed, and in which the separate parts are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which:

In footwear of the type and kind under consideration, it has been a conventional practice to employ materials of a relatively sti or rigid nature, particularly in sole and heel portions, to provide a tread or wearing surface. The purpose of my invention is to provide an all-exible footwear which will readily conform to the foot and provide a means of foot coverage in the several uses to which footwear of this type and kind can be applied. In other words as a slipper or sandal which can be used in the home, or as a footcovering used in clubs, hotels and other places in tramping about. Still more particularly I provide a foot-covering which can be used with either facing arranged outwardly so that different materials or materials having different characteristics can be exposed, and particularly when it is desired to expose a color in harmony with, or suitable for use in conjunction with the color of a gown or robe that might be worn by the user. It is also preferable to employ materials which can be easily cleaned, and/or laundered, after each use so as to have the footwear available for r reversible uses at all times. It will also be apparent that a foot-covering of this type and kind may be employed in conjunction with various types of boots, ski-shoes, hiking-shoes and the like for protection of the foot and for adding warmth to the foot.

My improved footwear may be said to comprise a slipper or similar type of foot-covering, and comprises sole and heel bottom portions I0, a toe portion II and a back heel and strap portion I2.

The back strap or heel covering portion I2 comprises an inner facing I'I and an outer facing I8 which also has inturned peripheral flange portions II-I8'.

In certain uses of the footwear, all of the inner facings I3, I5 and I'I will be formed of one material, and preferably of one color, whereas the outer facings I4, I6 and I8 will be of a similar material, of a different color, or of a different material, and also preferably of a different color. On the other hand, it will be apparent that several color combinations can be employed in the different parts of the device, suitable for the reverse use of the footwear.

The peripheral edges of the bottom sole and heel part III is attached to edge portions of the toe part by stitchings, as seen at I9 and to the strap and heel portion I2, as seen at 20. Whereas the other or free flanged edge portions of the part IEB is stitched, as seen at 2I and of the part II, as seen at 22, and of the part I2, as seen at 23.

The part I2 includes forwardly extending and reduced strap ends 24 and 25, note Fig. 1. These ends have any suitable means for coupling the same together. In the present construction, a flexible loop 26 is provided on the end 24 and a button 2l, at the other end 25. In the reverse use of the footwear, the button will be disposed inwardly instead of outwardly, as seen in Fig. 1.

In Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawing, I have indicated a method of collapsing the entire footwear.

The strap ends 24-25 are first folded around the heel portion of the bottom Ill and then said heel portion with the remainder of the parts folded thereon is tucked into the' toe portion II producing the result substantially similar to that shown in Fig. 5.

It will be apparent that the stitchings at I 9 and 29 are invisible in reverse uses of the slipper, thuis producing finished seams between the several par s.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

l. In reversible footwear, an all flexible body comprising a bottom sole-heel portion, a front toe portion and a rear heel and strap portion, each of said bottom, front and rear portions comprising inner and outer facing sheets having finished edges, the front toe portion and rear heel and strap portion joining the bottom sole-heel portion in seams invisible in both uses of the footwear, the inner facings of said bottom, front and back portions being contrasting to those of the outer facings, and the invisible seams and iinished edges being formed by inturned flanges at peripheral edges of the respective portions arranged between the facing lsheets thereof.

2. A reversible slipper of the class described comprising three primary parts, namely a, sole part, a toe pari, and a strap part, al1 of said parts being formed of inner and outer iiexibie faeings, the peripheral edges of both facings of each part being turned inwardly to be disposed between the facings, predetermined inturned edges of the second and third parts being stitched to part of the inturned edges of the iirst part in forming seams between said parts invisible in both uses of the slipper, the other edges of all of said parts being stitched to form finished free edges thereon, said strap part comprising a heel covering portion terminating in forwardly contracted strap ends, and means detachably coupling said strap ends.
