Description
0. SUND Q'UIST. Combined Mosquito-Bar and Clothes-Drier.
No.196,723. Patented Oct. 30,1877;
WITNESSES INVENTOR C7066 As dndyuisa W m m ATTORNEYS N-FETERS, PHOTO-LITHDGRAPHER,WASHINGTON. D C.
Unrrnn STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES SUNDQUIST, OF GHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE.
IMPROVEMENT INCO MBINED MOSQUITO-BAR AND CLOTHES-DRIER.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 196,723, dated October 30, 1877; application filed July 19, 1877.
The nature of my invention consists in the constructionand arrangement of a combined mosquito-bar and clothes-hanger, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, in which- Figure l is a side elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is a section of the same, and Fig. 3 shows the device inverted.
A represents the foot or base of my device,
which may be made of cast-iron, and of such size as to need no fastening but its own weight 5 but if made lighter, it should have suitable screw-holes for the passage of screws, to fasten it in place where desired.
This foot or base A is, in the center, provided with an elongated vertical hub, to, for the insertion of one end of a post, B, which is held therein by simply fitting closely, as shown. 0n the other end of the post B is secured an ornamental cap-piece, O, the lower portion of which has in its under side a series of radial grooves to receive the arms D D, said arms being pivoted in the inner ends of said grooves.
On the post B is also placed a movable flanged collar, E, for holding the arms D in horizontal position, when desired for use, said collar being then raised, as shown in Fig. 2,
and held by a pin, 7), passed through a hole in p the post. When not desired for use, the pin 1) is removed, the collar E drawn down, and the arms folded downward, as shown in Fig. 1. When the arms are thus raised the device may be used as a clothes-rack, or for exhibiting millinery or other goods, by having hooks attached to the arms; or it maybe used for supporting a mosquito or fly net, for protecting articles on the table.
- The post B may be removed from the base or foot A and reversed, when it mayfb'e suspended by a hook, d, from the ceil'ng, and a mosquito-net suspended on the arms, as shown in Fig. 8.
The device is cheap and simple, and can be put to many different uses about a house or store.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the reversible perforated post B, cap O, having radial grooves, as described, the pivoted arms D D, the sliding collar E, and the pin 12, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth. 4
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 23d day of J1me, 1877.
CHAS. SUNDQUIST.
