To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JACOB-B. 'LOHR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lake Vicw,'in the county of Sac and State of Iowa, have invented certain useful Imrovements in Cabinets, of which the folowing is a specification, reference .being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

The invention relates to cabinets and more particularly to the class of a tailors work cabinet.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a cabinet of this character wherein the same is of novel construction so as to afford a space for accommodating work and drawers which also receive materials for the execution of the work, thereby rendering the work and materials handy and easily accessible.

Another object of the inventionis the provision of a cabinet of this character wherein the body thereof is formed with a swinging section having arranged therein slidable drawers, and within the body is also arranged sliding doors and compartments each of which is designed for receiving materials or work, the cabinet being readily portable for the placing of the same at any convenient point and enables free'accessi-. bility to the materials and work thereby rendering the said cabinet convenient for use in tailor shops or the like.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a cabinet of this character which is extremely simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and eflicient in its purpose and inexpensive in manufacture.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination of elements, and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed-out in the claim hereunto appended.

Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.

Referring to the drawings in detail the cabinet comprises a box-like body A preferably made from wood althoughthe same may be made from any other suitable material and is of substantially L-shape in cross section including the ends 10, bottom 11, back 12 and top 13.

The particular shape of the body A affords a vertical portion B and the horizontal forwardly extending portion C respectively, while provided medially of the forwardly extending portion is a compartment 14 which is formed by vertical partitions or walls 15 and this compartment 14 opens through the bottom 11 of the body A although the said bottom for the body may serve a like purpose for the said compartment.

At opposite sides of the compartment 14 in the body A are drawer spaces 16 in which are received sliding drawers 17 having mounted in their fronts finger rings 18 so that the said drawers can be opened and closed in a convenient manner, while above the compartment 14 in the forwardly extending portion C of the body A is a shallow drawer space 19 for receiving a shallow drawer 20 having mounted in its front a finger ring 21 for the opening and closing or sliding of said drawer.

The vertical portion B of the frame A is vertically partitioned with inner walls 22 to form spaced columns 23 provided with drawer spaces 24 in which are slidably fitted drawers 25 each having at its front a finger ring 26 for the convenient opening and closing thereof.

Located between the columns 23 is a horizontal shelf 27 forming pigeon holes 28 independent of each other, the shelf 27 being supported in any suitable manner.

Upon the top 13 of the body A at the heads of the columns 23 are pin cushions 29 for the holding of needles, pins or the like, which are handy and readily accessible to the user of the cabinet while the drawers 17 and 25, compartment 14 and pigeon holes 28 are adaptable for containing work 0r materials ordinarily used by tailors.

It is .to' be understood that the-particular adaptability use of the cabinet can be varied and the construction and arrangement thereof may be changed or altered as will come properly within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of said invention. The top 35 of the horizontal forwardly extending portion G of the body provides a work board which is suitably covered with cloth and padded, the cloth being of a color to match the finished cabinet.

From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of use of the cabinot will be clearly understood and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.

WVhat is claimed is:

In a device as described, in combination, a box-like body having a back wall, a horizontal table between its upper and lower ends, a shelf arranged above said table and having its forward edge projecting inwardly of the outer end of said table, toward the center thereof, a pair of verticaily-arran-ged side walls upon said table having their rear edges secured to said back wall and their front edges projecting forwardly of said shelf, a top shelf "secured at right angles to the upper end of said back wall and projecting in back of vthe front edge :of the other shelf, a member hingedly secured to said top shelf and adapted to occupy an alining position .in front of said :top shelf, a closure sectionlhingedto the last-named member and adapted to 'fold the 'iilireetion of said member, and a mirror secured in spaced relation from the edges of said closure section, said hinged member adapted to rest upon the upper edges of said side Walls, so that the'itop of said body may be completely closed, while said closure. section is adapted to engage the front edges of said side walls, said mirror engaging the front edge of the first name'd shelf whereby the mirror is'held against swinging inwardly of said body.
