To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS VHITE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ogden, in the county of lVeber and State of Utah, have invented a new and useful Stovepipe-Holder, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention appertains to stove pipe holders and hangers, and aims to provide a novel and improved device of that character.

It is the object of the invention to provide stove pipe holder having a unique band for embracing the pipe, whereby the pipe is held effectively by the band.

Another object of the invention is to provide novel means for supporting said band from a ceiling, wall or other support;

It is also within the scope of the invention, to provide a stove pipe holder having the foregoing characteristics and which at the same time is comparatively inexpensive and simple in construction, as well as being efficient in use.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what isclaimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

The invention is illustrated in the accompa nying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is an elevation of the device as in use, portions being broken away and shown in section. Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional detail taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional detail taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4; is a fragmental perspective illustrating a modification. Fig. 5 is a sectional detail taken on the line 5 5 of Fig. at.

In carrying out the invention, there is provideda sheet metal band 1 adapted to embrace the stove pipe P, and split or divided at one point, whereby the band can be readily applied to and removed from the pipe. The edge portions of the band 1 are bent inwardly at an obtuse angle, and are corrugated, as at 2, whereby said, corrugated edges contact with the pipe to grip the same, so that the pipe will be effec- Specification of Letters Patent.

tively held by the band, and furthermore, the corrugations can give or yield, to enhance the efliciency of the band. The edge portions of the band being bent at an obtuse angle and being corrugated, provide two annular series of curved edges to engage the pipe, and said edge portions are yieldable so that they can be flexed inwardly and outwardly, while that portion of the hand between the corrugated edge portions is smooth and inelastic and is of larger diameter than the edge portions.

The band 1 is supported by means of a pair of sheet metal straps 3 having their adjacent ends bent angularly, as at 4, and overlapping the endsof the band 1 upon the inner side thereof, the end portions of the band 1 being provided with instruck portions 5 riveted through the ends 4 of the straps, to attach said straps to the ends of the band. A flattened sleeve 6 is slidable upon the straps 3, and when the band is applied to the stove pipe, the sleeve 6-is slid adjacent the band, to hold the ends of the band together, whereby the band will be held in contracted position around the stove pipe. \Vhen the sleeve 6 is slid away from the band, the ends of the band can be separated for loosening or removing the band.

The straps 3 diverge from the sleeve 6 and have their remote ends attached ad justably to the ceiling, wall or other support, the attachment being effected through the medium of a pair of metal plates 7 which can be cemented, nailed or otherwise secured to the support. The plates 7 have bridge portions 8 struck therefrom, and the remote terminals of the straps 3 are looped, as at 9, around the portions 8. F lattened sleeves 10 are slidable upon the straps 3 and are slipped onto the remote terminals of the straps for holding the loops 9 closed, it being evidentthat the straps 3 can be readily adjusted relative to the plates 7 for lengthening or shortening the length of the branches between the loops 9 and band. This enables the device to be applied readily to the pipe and support.

lVith the present device, the stove pipe can be supported in the desired manner from the ceiling, wall or the like, and the device is cou'iparatively simple as well as being non-objectionable in appearance.

Having thus described the invention, What is claimed as new is:

1. A stove pipe holder comprising a split band to embrace a stove pipe, a pair of straps having their adjacent ends attached to the ends of said band, a sleeve slidablef upon said straps adjacent said band, a pair of supporting plates, the remote ends of said straps being looped; said plates having portions engaged by said looped ends, and
