To. aZZ whom. it may concern: 7
Be it known that AD.O 1? WES/Tammie citizen of the United States, residing at Galva, in the county of Ida and State of Iowa, have invented new and, useful 111 provements in Gar-Ticket Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to ticket holders, the object in view being to provide a receptacle for tickets which will enable the tickets to. be fed outwardly from the casing of the holder, one by one, at the same time holding the tickets in convenient position, and giving access to a portion of the foremost ticket, so that the operator may apply a number to the face or back of the ticket, before it is projected from. the holder.
A further object of the invention is to provide means whereby the ticket holder may be readily adapted to tickets of different thicknesses.
With the above and other objects in View, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of a ticket holder, embodying the present invention. Fig. 2 is a central vertical longitudinal section through the same. Fig. 3 is a side elevation, partly broken away to show one of the springs. Fig. 4 is a horizontal section taken lengthwise through the ticket holder. Fig. 5 is a cross section taken adjacent to the follower slot. Fig. 6 is also cross section taken through the lever compartment.
Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a suitable casing, forming the body of the ticket holder. For a portion of its length, the casing comprises an inner wall 2, and an outer wall 3, the inner walls forming a ticket compartment, and the outer walls forming, in connection with the inner walls, spring compartments, in which are arranged the springs which control the follower plate. The casing of the holder is further provided in the top side thereof with a slot 4 adapting the uppermost ticket to be numbered before it is ejected from the holder, and at one end the ticket compartment is closed by means of a hinged cover 5 which may be thrown open to allow a new batch of ticke s to be ins rted in the tic et, on1.- pa tm nt.
In. thev ti ket, c mpartm nt a ranged a follower plate 6 which urges the tickets t wa d the t p S e f e e i itz v Thi ol ow plate pin les 7 p j cting from m te ide ther of, w ich Pass t r gh ert a sl s 8 in the inner wal 2, abov efe r d to, W il lea spr ng 9 arra ged in he ompar men s a opposite sides of the ticket compartment are terminally con nected to said pintles 'Z, and serve to. urge the foll we Plate yiel'cli'ng y tow r the upper side of the casing, so to, feed for,- ward he ti ket s own at 19- In lin h t e op. of t ca ing th atter is pro i ed. i h a di harg op ing 11, the size of which is rendered adjustable by means of a plate 12 extending across said opening, and having end flanges 13 which are slotted, as shown at 14, to receive binding screws 15, thereby admitting of the adjustment of said plate, so as to vary the size of the discharge opening in accordance with the thickness of the tickets used in the holder.
Operating just under the top wall of the ticket holder is a feed slide 16, against the bottom of which the uppermost ticket bears, when pressed upward by the follower plate hereinabove described. This slide extends backward in rear of the ticket compartment, where it moves in suitable guides 17 secured to the under side of the top of the casing. The slide is provided with one or more lugs 18 extending downward from the rear extremity thereof, and connected to said lug or lugs by means of a pivot pin 19 is a segment lever 20 which is journaled on a shaft 21 in the compartment in rear of the ticket receiving compartment. Meshing with the segment lever 20 is a finger lever 22 which is fulcrumed, at 23, and projects outward through a slot 24 in the curved wall 25 of the holder, where it may be operated by a quick movement of the finger.
26 designates a spring coiled around the shaft referred to, and which serves to force the slide outward, so as to partially eject a ticket from the holder, the slide being moved backward to its initial position by manipu lating the finger lever referred to. At a suitable point in its length, the slide is provided with a transverse shoulder 27 adapted, when the slide is moved backward, to slip behind the rear edge of the ticket, so that when the slide is again moved forward by the action of the spring thereon, the ticket will be en-.
gaged thereby and partially ejected through the discharge opening in the holder.
28 designates another finger lever, projecting through the slot 29 in the curved wall of the casing, said lever being mounted on a rock shaft 30 journaled on the rear wall of the ticket compartment, and comprising two forwardly extending arms 31 which are connected to the pintles at opposite sides of the follower plate, thereby enabling said follower plate to be moved downward, for the purpose of inserting a fresh batch of tickets in the holder.
springs at opposite sides of the ticket compartment come into play to carry the follower plate upward, for the purpose specified.
What is claimed is:
1. A ticket holder, comprising a. casing having outer and inner walls with intervening spaces, the inner walls forming a ticket compartment, a spring pressed follower plate in said compartment, a finger lever connect- As soon i as the last-named finger lever is released, the
ed with said plate, springs arranged in the said spaces at opposite sides of said compartment acting on the follower plate, a ticket ejecting slide, a gear segment lever operatively connected with said slide, a spring acting on said segment lever to urge the slide outward, and a finger lever geared to the segment lever.
2. A ticket holder, comprising a casing having outer and inner walls with intervening spaces, the inner walls forming a ticket compartment, a spring pressed follower plate in said compartment, a finger lever connected with said plate, springs arranged in the said spaces at opposite sides of said compartment acting on the follower plate, a ticket ejecting slide movable toward and away from a discharge opening in the casing, a. finger lever for operating said slide, and a gage plate adjustable relatively to said opening for varying the size thereof. In testimony whereof I affix my signature 1n presence of two wltnesses.
