Abstract

A tamper-indicating closure for a container 1 includes a stopper 4 which can only be removed in the direction of the container, thereby indicating that the container has been opened. In the embodiment this is achieved by a shoulder 5 on the stopper 4 engaging with a shoulder 6 within a cylindrical projection 2 on the container. A cap 8 carrying a tubular plug engages sealingly and rotatably within the projection 2, pouring of the contents only being possible when the cap 8 is rotated so that an aperture 9 in the plug aligns with a pouring spout 3 on the projection 2. The cap 8 may be connected to the base of the projection 2 by a resilient strap, and an internal bead 11 in the cap 8 engages a corresponding annular groove on the projection 2 to locate it thereon. The various components may be moulded from a plastics material, and the projection 2 may be detachably or permanently fixed to the container 1.
