Abstract

La presente invencion describe un proceso para preparar prepolímeros de poli(uretano/urea) y dispersiones de poli(uretano/urea) acuosas (PUD) de los mismos, los polímeros de poli(uretano/urea) tienen una elevada resistencia al calor y buena resistencia al agua. El método emplea un solvente orgánico volátil soluble al agua, tal como acetona, a un nivel de 0.1-5%, con base en el peso de la dispersion final, un nivel que no requiere removerse para propositos de consideraciones del punto de evaporacion. El método incluye las etapas de: hacer reaccionar en la presencia de un solvente orgánico soluble al agua, a un nivel que corresponde a no más del 5% por peso de la dispersion final, un componente de poliisocianato que comprende un diisocianato con un componente de poliol para producir un prepolímero de poliuretano terminado de isocianato, el componente de poliol proporciona los grupo de carboxilato y los grupos de sulfonato; dispersar el prepolímero terminado de isocianato en medio acuoso; hacer reaccionar dicho prepolímero de poliuretano terminado de isocianato dispersado cuando menos con un extensor de cadena, formando así dicho polímero de poli(uretano/urea); neutralizar los grupos de carboxilato y de sulfonato de dicho prepolímero terminado de isocianato con un hidroxido de álcali o una amina terciaria antes de dicha reaccion del prepolímero y dicho extensor o terminador de cadena funcional de amina, o simultáneamente con la misma; en donde dicho método se lleva a cabo sin una etapa de destilacion del solvente.
