The present invention relates to a protective cover for an ultrasonic scalpel that prevents contact between the side surface of the horn and the outside, and allows compact installation of an irrigation pipe for supplying irrigation liquid to the tip of the horn and the surgical site.

An irrigation pipe is provided along the horn at the tip of the handpiece section up to the vicinity of the tip of the horn, and is fixed with a tip fixing tip. Irrigation fluid is poured into the tip of the horn and the surgical site through this pipe. (For example, Jikko 61-
(No. 38570) However, because of the irrigation pipe that runs along the horn at the tip, it is difficult to obtain a wide field of view during surgery, and the side surface of the horn, which is vibrating ultrasonically, does not come into contact with normal tissue other than the affected area. There was a risk of damage to normal tissue.

FIG. 4 shows the tip of a conventional handpiece, with c being a side view and d being a front view. An irrigation pipe 2 is provided along the horn 3 at the tip of the handpiece section 1 to near the tip of the horn 3, and in order to bring the irrigation pipe 2 close to the horn 3, a fixture made of plastic such as Teflon is installed. 4 holds the irrigation pipe 2. With this shape,
When performing surgery with an extremely narrow surgical field such as microsurgery, the irrigation pipe 2 and fixture 4 allow the tip 9 of the horn 3, which serves as the female part, to be inserted deep into the surgical site. In some cases, this is not possible, and when the surgery is performed under a microscope, the irrigation pipe 2 and fixture 4 often obstruct the field of view, making the surgery itself difficult. Moreover, since the entire horn 3 vibrates with ultrasonic waves, when performing surgery on deep diseased parts of the human body, the side surface of the horn 3 leading to the tip 9 of the horn, which serves as the scalpel, may come into contact with normal tissue. As a result, there was a risk that normal tissue would be damaged by frictional heat.

た。 In addition, in order to solve the above problems, instead of using an irrigation pipe, the outer circumference of the horn is covered with a protective cover.
An ultrasonic surgical device is also known in which a processing fluid, ie, irrigation liquid, is supplied to the tip of the horn and the surgical site through an annular space formed between the horn and the protective cover. (For example, JP-A-54-

47-39197, etc.) However, in this type of system, the irrigation liquid comes into direct contact with the side surface of the horn that is vibrating ultrasonically at high speed, which causes cavitation of the irrigation liquid, causing damage near the tip of the horn. It forms a spray and obstructs the view of the surgical area. This adverse effect is particularly noticeable in microsurgery, where surgery is performed under a microscope, and it has been difficult to carry out appropriate and rapid surgery.

This prevents the side surface of the horn from coming into contact with the outside, so there is no damage to normal tissues other than the surgical site, and the irrigation pipe for supplying irrigation fluid to the tip of the horn and the surgical site is covered with a protective cover. It is compactly installed on the outer peripheral side of the surgical site, and the irrigation liquid can be appropriately supplied to the surgical target area without causing atomization due to cavitation phenomenon, which obstructs the field of view even in a narrow surgical field. It has the remarkable ability to perform surgery without any complications, making it extremely useful in surgical operations.
