Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the sulfur resistance of inexpensive phosphor copper braze obtained by the specific composition contg. P and Zn and the balance consisting of Cu. CONSTITUTION:This phosphor copper braze has the composition consisting of 1- 9wt% phosphorus, 0.5-45wt% zinc and the balance copper. Since this braze has about <=850 deg.C m.p. and superior sulfur resistance, it is usable in a gaseous sulfur atmosphere. As compared to silver braze, it is much lower in cost. Further if Ag is added to this alloy, the strength increases and when Sn is added, the m.p. lowers and therefore the application sphere of this phosphor copper braze is expanded by adding these metals according to need.
