Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a head consisting of a multilayered magnetic film of a high performance due to the thin film process, by setting the thickness of an insulating layer interposed between multilayered films to a specific thickness of a nonmagnetic film, which determines the gap length, in the range of a length corresponding to the track width from the gap part. CONSTITUTION:Sendust films 2 are laminated in three layers through interlayer insulating films 7 of SiO2 on a nonmagnetic substrate 1, and a multilayered magnetic film is adhered by sputtering or the like. The approximately half multilayered film is removed by etching or the like, and the side face of the left multilayered film is cut by a diamond cutting tool or the like for the purpose of obtaining a flatness allowable as a gap face, thus forming the first core half body part 8 of a magnetic head. A gap forming SiO2 film 3 is adhered to the side face of this half body part 8. Next, sendust films 4 are adhered in three layers through insulating layers 7 to form a multilayered magnetic film which is the second core half body, and a step cover for forming a gap is performed. The step part is eliminated by lapping, and a winding window 5 is provided, thus obtaining a magnetic head form.
