Abstract
PURPOSE: To apply an existing wire-glass production facility to produce a decorative glass plate by a method wherein two plate type glass ribbons are continuously formed and while they are hot metal pieces are inserted between the two ribbons.
CONSTITUTION: Molten glass 1 is fed from the lip tile 3 of the first canal's 2 edge and is rolled by the rolling rolls 4, 5 to be formed into the first glass ribbon 6. Onto the first ribbon 6, pieces of steel are scattered through the material feed tank 15 containing pieces of stainless steel. When the first ribbon 6 has reached the second canal 7, molten glass 8 whose flow rate is controlled by the tuille 10, is dropped on the first ribbon 6 and formed into the second glass ribbon 13 by the forming rolls 11, 12, while steel pieces are sealed between the two glass ribbons. A preferable temperature of the glass ribbons is at 700W1,100°C at the position of the forming rolls 11, 12.
