Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent fog and uneven transfer effectively, by providing a corona discharger for discharging before transfer, having a control grating, in the region ranging from a developing section to a transfer section of a photoreceptor, and applying a given voltage to the grating.
CONSTITUTION: High voltage reverse in polarity to a toner is applied to corona discharge electrode 4, and a bias voltage between potential VD on dark areas D and potential VL on light areas L of photoreceptor 1 after development, for example, +400V is applied to control grating 6. Positive corona ions produced at electrode 4 reach near grating 6, and then, in the case of light areas L, they reach the surface of photoreceptor 1 along accelerating electric field E formed between grating 6 and photoreceptor 1, and convert fogging toner 2, 3 on areas L to positive polarity. In the case of dark areas D, negative corona ions reach near grating 6, but they cannot reach photoreceptor 1 due to restricting electric field E, and collected with grating 6.
