Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the Diesel engine in combustion and to reduce the specific fuel consumption by allowing the pressure oil in the pressure-oil chamber and a needle valve spring to cooperate with each other for obtaning an excellent cut-off of injection.
CONSTITUTION: Near the end of the injection by a fuel pump 100, a fuel valve- closing reed 52 provided on a plunger 5 opens a fuel valve-closing port. Consequently, the pressure oil in the plunger chamber passes through valve-closing pressure-oil passages 101, 102 and 103, and reaches a valve-closing pressure-oil chamber 104 provided opposite to the valve seat of the fuel valve to raise the pressure in the pressure-oil chamber 104 so that the pressure acts so as to close needle valve 11 in cooperation with the valve spring 13. A little after this, a reed 51 opens an oil exhaust port 62, and so the fuel injection pressure begins to lower. Consequently, the pressure in an oil reservoir 91 pushing up the needle valve 11 lowers, and together with the valve spring 13 the pressure in the valve-closing pressure-oil chamber 104 which has begun to rise a little earlier causes the valve 11 to lower and be closed. This permits the low-pressure portion at the end of injection to be cut off. Therefore, an excellent cut-off of injection can be obtained.
