Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a hot rolled wire rod of low-carbon killed steel attaining low hardness as hot rolled by adding C, Si, Mn, acid-soluble Al, N, B, Ti, etc. each restricted to a prescribed percentage to iron.
CONSTITUTION: This hot rolled wire rod of low-carbon killed steel consists of ≤0.25% C, ≤0.30% Si, 0.30W0.60% Mn, ≤0.08% acid-soluble Al, ≤0.05% P, ≤0.05% S, ≤0.008% N and ≤0.005% Ti and/or 0.002% B and has Ti/N=0.6W 3.5 and B/N=0.3W0.8. Using this wire rod as hot rolled a die life comparable to the life of other kind of heat treated steel is ensured.
