PURPOSE:To decrease the number of data line by connecting display energizing data lines to one set of I/O of a 1-chip microcomputer, connecting the address lines of an RAM to these and connecting read-write control lines to the other one set of I/O. CONSTITUTION:The common lines of the address data lines and memory data lines of a nonvolatile RAMIC2 are connected to 6 lines among 7-energizing lines of the character displays CHD1-CHD3 of a 1-chip microcomputer IC1. Diagnosis data have been stored in the IC2, and the read and write of the IC2 as well as the light emission energizing of the CHD1-CHD3 are accomplished in time sharing mode based on the programs having been set in the IC1. The programs for changing the read-write addresses of the IC2 at every predetermined counting are provided in order to cope with the decrease in storage holding period owing to the increase in the write erasing times which are the point of problem with the MNOS chip IC2.
