Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the title alloy by adding a specified amt. of Mg, Fe and Si to Al or further adding Cu, Mn, Zr, etc.
CONSTITUTION: To more than 99.7% purity Al metal contg. Ti≤0.02% are added Mg 0.10W0.50wt%, Fe 0.15W0.45wt% and Si 0.05W0.20wt% or further added Cu, Mn or Zr≤0.10wt% or two or more out of Cu, Mn and Zr 0.15wt% in total. By adding Mg, Fe and Si to Al the strength and elongation of the resulting Al alloy are enhanced, and the formability is improved at the same time. By further adding one or more out of Cu, Mn and Zr the strength is further enhanced without spoiling the effect of adding Mg, Fe and Si. The resulting alloy is sheetlike and excellent in strength and formability, so it is suitable for use as a material for fins, cans, caps, etc. for a heat exchanger.
