Abstract

PURPOSE: Using the culture of a microorganism belonging to Rhizobium, is produced coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) used for drugs.
CONSTITUTION: A Rhizobium bacterium producing CoQ10, such as Rhizobium phaseoli KY4371 (FERM-4490), is aerobically cultured in a medium containing carbon, nitrogen sources, inorganic substances and other nutritions at a pH of 5W9 for 3W7 days usually. CoQ10 is accumulated in both the culture and the cells; however, almost part is accumulated in cells. CoQ10 is isolated from the culture by usual manners such as solvent extraction and other operations.
