Abstract
PURPOSE: An agricultural and horticultural fungicide, capable of controlling various plant pathogenic fungi, e.g. Piricularia oryzae or Sphaerotheca fuliginea, having a wide antifungal spectrum and a great antifungal activity without phytotoxicity, and comprising a specific indole compound as an active constituent.
CONSTITUTION: A fungicide comprising one or more types of indole compounds of formula I [R1 is H, lower alkyl, benzyl group, etc.; R2 is formula II (X is H, halogen, lower alkyl group, etc.; n is 1 or 2), naphthyl, pyridyl group, etc.; R3 is H, halogen, phenyl group, etc.; R4 and R5 are H, halogen, lower alkyl groups, etc.], as an active constituent, alone or together with an inert carrier, formulated by the conventional techniques. The fungicide is effective against blast, and helminthosporium leaf spot, particularly powdery mildew of cucumbers, has a wider antifungal spectrum and a greater activity than the well-known similar compounds without phytotoxicity.
