Description
本願の発明者らは、上述の課題を解決すべく鋭意検討した結果、一定の物性の製品が安定的に得られない原因を探る中で、表面架橋剤の噴霧方法に着目した。本願の発明者らが見出した知見について以下のように説明する。
以下に、本開示にかかる実施の形態を図面に基づいて詳細に説明するが、本開示の範囲はこれらの説明に拘束されることはなく、以下の例示以外についても、本開示の趣旨を損なわない範囲で適宜変更して実施し得るものである。
本開示の一の実施の形態にかかる吸水性樹脂粒子の製造工程のフローチャートを図1に示す。図1に示すように、吸水性樹脂粒子は、少なくとも重合工程s11、濃縮工程s12、表面架橋工程s13、乾燥工程s14を有する樹脂粒子調製工程s15で調製される。
重合工程s11は、水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合反応させて吸水性樹脂粒子を得る工程である。水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体の重合方法は特に限定されず、代表的な重合方法である水溶液重合法、乳化重合法、逆相懸濁重合法などが用いられる。
濃縮工程s12は、重合工程s11で得られた重合反応液から液体成分を留去して、重合反応液を濃縮して、吸水性樹脂粒子前駆体を得る工程である。
表面架橋工程s13は、重合反応液からの液体成分の留去処理後に得られた吸水性樹脂粒子前駆体に、水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体由来の官能基と反応性を有する官能基を2個以上含有する表面架橋剤を添加して、吸水性樹脂粒子前駆体の表面層の架橋密度を高めて吸水性樹脂粒子を得る工程である。表面層の架橋密度が高い吸水性樹脂粒子は、加圧下吸水能、吸水速度、ゲル強度などの諸性能が高く、衛生材料用途として好適な性能を有する。
表面架橋工程s13の後に、乾燥工程が行われる場合について説明する。乾燥工程s14は、表面架橋工程s13において得られた含水ゲル状の吸水性樹脂粒子を乾燥する工程である。
<重合工程>
逆相懸濁重合法による吸水性樹脂の製造を行った。吸水性樹脂の製造においては、水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を、石油系炭化水素分散媒中で、分散安定剤の存在下にラジカル重合開始剤を用いて、逆相懸濁重合法により2段の重合反応を行った。
製造例で得た吸水性樹脂粒子前駆体(A)をスプレーノズル1/4MVV8005S303(いけうち社製の1流体標準扇形ノズル:スプレーノズル42に対応:スプレーノズル内にはメッシュストレーナを設けず)と、処理容器の外側に設けられた100メッシュのY型ストレーナ(ストレーナ45に対応)を備えた溝型攪拌乾燥機(奈良機械製作所、1軸パドルドライヤー:処理装置1に対応)に移送し、架橋剤としてエチレングリコールジグリシジルエーテル2.8kgを該スプレーノズルにて、噴霧し(噴霧圧:0.3MPa)、乾燥機本体内の内容物を90℃で反応させ、表面架橋された反応混合物を得た。噴霧後、スプレーノズルを純水にて洗浄し、窒素にて追い出しを行った。
製造例で得た吸水性樹脂粒子前駆体(A)をスプレーノズル1/4MVV8005S303 with6051-SS-100(いけうち社製の1流体標準扇形ノズル:スプレーノズル142に対応、スプレーノズル内蔵100メッシュストレーナ:ストレーナ150に対応)を備えた溝型攪拌乾燥機(奈良機械製作所、1軸パドルドライヤー)に移送し、架橋剤としてエチレングリコールジグリシジルエーテル2.8kgを該スプレーノズルにて、噴霧し(噴霧圧:0.3MPa)、乾燥機本体内の内容物を90℃で反応させ、表面架橋された反応混合物を得た。噴霧後、スプレーノズルを純水にて洗浄し、窒素にて追い出しを行った。

Claims (3)
- 吸水性樹脂粒子前駆体に対して表面架橋剤を噴霧して加熱する表面架橋処理を行って、表面架橋処理が行われた吸水性樹脂粒子を得る吸水性樹脂粒子の製造装置であって、
表面架橋処理が行われる処理容器と、
処理容器内に設けられた撹拌部材を有する撹拌装置と、
処理容器内を加熱する加熱装置と、
処理容器内に設けられ、処理容器外の表面架橋剤供給源から供給配管を通じて供給される表面架橋剤を処理容器内に噴霧するスプレーノズルと、
スプレーノズルの入口よりも上流側における供給配管において設けられたストレーナと、
ストレーナを冷却する冷却装置と、を備え、
スプレーノズルの入口から噴射口に至るスプレーノズル内流路において、流体が通過する流路における開口断面の最も小さい箇所が噴射口であり、
ストレーナは、スプレーノズルの噴射口の開口断面よりも小さな開口断面を有する複数の開口を備える、吸水性樹脂粒子の製造装置。 - 吸水性樹脂粒子前駆体に対して表面架橋剤を噴霧して加熱する表面架橋処理を行って、表面架橋処理が行われた吸水性樹脂粒子を得る吸水性樹脂粒子の製造装置であって、
表面架橋処理が行われる処理容器と、
処理容器内に設けられた撹拌部材を有する撹拌装置と、
処理容器内を加熱する加熱装置と、
処理容器内に設けられ、処理容器外の表面架橋剤供給源から供給配管を通じて供給される表面架橋剤を処理容器内に噴霧するスプレーノズルと、を備え、
表面架橋剤の供給配管は、複数のスプレーノズルが接続されたヘッダ配管である第1配管と、表面架橋剤供給源と第1配管とを接続する第2配管と、を備え、
第1配管と複数のスプレーノズルとが処理容器の内部に配置され、第2配管と接続されて表面架橋剤の供給配管に表面架橋剤供給源から表面架橋剤を供給するポンプが設けられ、第2配管における処理容器の外側部分でありかつポンプの下流側にストレーナが設けられ、
スプレーノズルの入口から噴射口に至るスプレーノズル内流路において、流体が通過する流路における開口断面の最も小さい箇所が噴射口であり、
ストレーナは、スプレーノズルの噴射口の開口断面よりも小さな開口断面を有する複数の開口を備える、吸水性樹脂粒子の製造装置。 - 加熱装置は、処理容器の外周に配置された加熱ジャケットであり、加熱ジャケットの外側における供給配管にストレーナが設けられる、請求項1または2に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造装置。
